A true story about my imaginary friend called Sonny.

I have probably heard this story a million times and probably told it in equal measure..... It's a story about me, but it's not my story. It's my Aunt's story.

I myself have vague memories of this happening. I would have been about six at the time. I remember a dream. I remember having an imaginary friend called Sonny, buts that's about it.

My Aunt Maura who wasn't my Aunt by blood. She was married to my Uncle John, who was my father's older brother.

Every Sunday she would go to the graveyard to put fresh flowers on the grave of her own mother and father.

One Sunday she decided to bring me along with her to help her out. As she was cleaning the grave. I turned to her and asked if Sonny was buried here.

These are her words by the way. She said she dropped whatever was in her hand from shock She asked who Sonny was and I told her it was my friend, who I dream about.

She asked me what he looks like. I told her it's a boy in a "Grey Suit," who carries a "Brown Book" with him. Then she asked me about the dreams. I told her I was here in the Graveyard and someone was being buried.

The boy in the "Grey Suit" was standing next me holding his "Brown Book." I turned and asked him who was getting buried.

He turned to me and said that he was being buried and that his name was Sonny. Then I would wake up.

It turned out Sonny was my Grandfathers older brother. Who had died when he was twelve in a swimming accident when they were on holiday in a place called killer. Kilkee is a Seaside town in Co. Clare Ireland. Beautiful place.

Now the thing about it was Sonny was never talked about. Nobody would have ever met him, because my Grandfather was very young himself when it happened.

It wasn't a shameful secret or anything. It was just one of those things. Obviously, he would have been mentioned, but long before I was ever born.

The strangest part of this whole story was the fact that the "Grey Suit" and the "Brown Book" was exactly what he was buried with.
