Zuriel's P.O.V

I stood outside my mothers hospital room going back and forth in my head exactly what I wanted to say to her when I went in. She was conscious now and able to hold up a conversation, do to the dialysis kicking in, but she was still critical. Xander had given me a long speech about how I can't give up on her, even if she was a train wreck.

She was running out of time but I was still indifferent to the entire thing. Did I want my mother to die? No, but this woman had made her life hell on earth for as long as she could remember. And it wasn't just her life, multiple people she knows had been rendered ill of the disease that this woman was.

As far as I saw it Gardina was nothing more than the woman who had given birth to me, hell my grandmother was more of a mother than she was.

And now she expected to get a kidney out of me? Just because she birthed me?

I opened the door after taking a deep breath and walked inside immediately hearing the heart monitor beeping and seeing the pale woman before her.

"Damn..I must me dying if your here." Gardina halfheartedly laughed looking at her daughter for the first time in literal years.

"Gardina." I said curtly still standing by the door not exactly sure if  I wanted to get any closer to her.

"What are you doing here, is this about your dad?" She asked tiredly.

"Dad? No, I saw you on the TV something about criminals taking the hospital hostage and demanding to see you? Wait..what about my dad?" I asked my curiosity now at an all time high. Gardina hadn't mentioned my dad in pretty much forever, and any time I did go to ask her questions like where he was, or why he didn't stay. She would dodge them like their was wasps coming at her.

"Oh..well..never mind." Dina said stifling a yawn.

"No, what about dad?" I insisted knowing I had her cornered, not that she could escape anyway, she had never looked so weak. Even when she was snorting up coke on the living room table, or eating edibles in between driving her to school she was ten times more active than she was now.

"Zuriel." Dina sighed wanting Zuriel to drop this topic, not feeling up to relaying the previous events that had transpired up to this moment.

"For God sakes mom your dying, can't you do one good thing in your life!?" I pleaded looking into her eyes seeing the conflict that was there.

"Lanelle Williams, that's his name." She started looking up at daughter who crossed her arms signaling for her to continue.

"He went to prison before you died..nothing to major, drug dealing..I tried to tell him to stop, tried to warn him..but it was too late." She said shifting her eyes from her to the ceiling.

"Anyway, he got released not to long ago..wanted to see you." She said shifting her gaze back onto her seeing her eyes light up with a wide range of emotions.

"And why didn't he?" Zuriel said haughtily knowing her mom was behind whatever it was she was about to say.

"Zuriel the man was in prison most of your life and-"

"And you were drugged up! So how is that an excuse as to why you haven't let me seen him!?" Zuriel bitterly yelled feeling that anger wound up in her once again.

"It's not, but you can't see him now anyway." She said.

"And why is that?" I asked furrowing my eye brows.

"Because he's currently in the hospital in critical condition, maybe worse than me..If that's possible." She announced.

"Wait, Dad's in the hospital too!?" She said stunned. "Just what the hell happened!?" She said demanding answers, tired of Gardina's lies and beating around the bush, for once she wanted a straight forward answer, and she was hell bent on getting it.
