Chaehyun and Lucas had decided to do the one thing they hadn't actually done yet, which was released a song with just the two of them. And so, when they were both offered the opportunity, they were more than happy to comply. Chaehyun was very talented in the producing and writing field, he'd had two albums out and the majority of the content on there was made by just him alone with the help of Taeyong and sometimes Mark.
Lucas didn't feel irritated by Chaehyun's stress, he simply smiled and slid into the seat beside him. Lucas studied his best friend for a second before he plucked the pen out of Chaehyun's hands as well as pried the guitar out of his grip. He then slid the headphones down and turned the man towards him. Chaehyun was far too exhausted and stressed to argue and just allowed it to happen.
"Quit stressing you're getting those lines on your head and it's not attractive for you." Chaehyun rolled his eyes and fell back into his chair. "We have plenty of time to work on this song, trust-we've already got the basics down. The song is coming along just fine, but we've been working on it all day today, so, how about we take a break? Then come back with a fresh head tomorrow? We'll go get some food and take a walk around Seoul, sound good?"
Chaehyun glanced at the clock which read 12:33 AM and sighed. He knew he wasn't going to get any further if he continued, so he nodded. He saved the progress and pushed himself out of his seat. He threw on his hoodie and slid up the hood before meeting Lucas at the door. The two shared a smile before the lights shut off and the door closed behind them.
The summer air grazed across their faces as they walked down around the city with the food in their hands and eventually came to stop at Han River. There was barely anybody around, just drunk people heading home from a night out and the odd few sober people who had stayed out too late. Chaehyun stuffed the noodles into his mouth as he looked at the scenery before him, he could already feel the stress escaping his body. His limbs screamed for rest and his head ached, but even with that, he didn't want to leave just yet.
"Do you think we've changed?" Lucas asked softly as if he would ruin everything if he raised his voice any higher. "As people...as friends?"
"I think I've changed. I mean, I used to be a dick and there's no way of sugar coating it, I was a messed up dick. Smoked, fought, barely ever showed up to school, drank underage, disrespectful to my elders, I was a douchebag. The only people I cared about was my siblings and that's it. I'm still a dick, but I guess I'm a lot more open to showing people my emotions. I have respect and I will prove that I'm not a bad guy."
"Nobody thinks you're a bad guy, Chae. You're just misunderstood."
The two fell silent again. It was comfortable and almost comforting.
"As friends, I believe we've gotten considerably...closer."
Lucas turned to look at him. "I think so too."
Chaehyun was confused with what 'considerably closer' meant, but he rolled with it. He wasn't really thinking when he said it, but Lucas seemed to understand, so he just pretended like he understood.
Turns out Lucas can read him like a book.
"You have no idea what any of what you just said meant do you?"
Chaehyun pressed his lips together, they turned to look at each other before bursting out laughing.
They didn't touch on the subject further. They simply stood in each other's presence and stared out into the distance, no words are exchanged, the company is enough. Despite the confusion, the two knew that there was a deeper meaning to the words. There was something deeper, it just needed a little more digging to be discovered.
But for now, they were happy just in each other's company not wanting to know the future just yet.
