I walked down the street heading down to see what I could swipe from people today. I walked slowly down the street occasionally slipping a watch or a ring or a phone, until I was faced with my usual drop off spot. I walked inside and the bell above the door jingled. The man behind the counter turned around and greeted me.
      "Ay...Y/N!" the man said.
"Hey, Tobey! How you doing?" I respond.
"I'm doing alright...what do you have for me today?"
I emptied my pockets of the watches, jewelry, and a phone. His eyes get a little wider.
"When did you have time to snatch all of this?" he asked checking it all out.
"On my way here."
He chuckled a little.
He began to price things and type them into his register. There was a ding and he got out some cash handing me a stack of it.
"Here ya go, N/N(nickname)."
"Thanks. See ya later, Tobey."
"See ya, kid."
I pocketed the cash then walked down the street to a hot dog stand. I paid for a hot dog and a drink then walked back the way I came.
My hideout was in the rundown part of the town. There were less police and people that would bother me, but there was more crime and it always had me on edge.
I turned down an alley and walked down it. I kicked a garbage can over and used it as a stair to climb onto the dumpster next to it, using it to give me a boost up to the fire escape. I climbed up to the top floor and slid the window open. The outside of the building looked like any other abandoned building, but the inside was a whole different story. I had renovated all five floors to be my home.
How you might ask? Hacking. I would search the internet for things that were being shipped and would edit the data to be shipped to my place, then deleted all traces of the shipping order. The top floor was my room and workshop. There was a bed on the far wall with drapes around it, with a nightstand next to it. The lamp illuminated the room. There was a few desks on the right wall with three monitors set up on them, and on the right wall there was a workshop full of spare parts and unfinished projects.
I walked over to my end stand and opened up the bottom drawer tossing the money I had gotten today along with all the other stacks. I hardly ever bought anything unless it was absolutely necessary. Most of the stuff I had, I stole.
I jogged over to my workshop and looked at my latest project. It was a plasma gun. I liked making weapons, but I never really had a reason to use them. I checked to see what the gun needed then jogged downstairs to the fourth floor.
My fourth floor was where you kept all of my spare parts and machinery. There was a robot that I had created to manage it. It was only about three  and a half feet tall and it was on wheels, with one tall arm that had a pincer on the end. It had eyes on the pincer hand. It didn't talk, but it understood me.
      "Hey, Crane..." I said.
The robot's armed turned to me and the three pincers opened and closed like he was waving.
      "I need an electro-plasma conduit."
The robot turned and wheeled further into the shelved room. I hurried to follow behind. He led me to a shelve and picked of the item I needed. He turned around and dropped it into my open hand.
       "Thanks, Crane."
His arm went up and down.
I went back up stairs to my workshop and worked to install the new part and make adjustments to the wiring and code. A few hours later I picked up the gun and powered it on, it whirred to life. I aimed at an empty bottle on my end stand and fired. A blast of blue shot through the air and the bottle exploded in a flash of light.
I took the gun away from my eye and whistles lowly.
I powered it off and slung it around my shoulder, not wanting to let go of it for awhile. I went down to the second floor. The kitchen. I took some bread and and peanut butter and jelly, then made myself a sandwich. Right as my mouth closed on my first bite there was a slight rumble. I looked to my glass of water next to me. It was shaking slightly. I turned to the window. There were people running down the streets. I couldn't see what they were running from. I ran to my roof and looked around. There were robots of some sort, shaped like men. Walking around attacking people.
My eyes widened and I ran back inside throwing things into a backpack. I ran back up to the roof and slung my gun off my shoulder and aimed at one of the robots. I shot it blasting it to pieces, all the other robots stopped and looked up to me.
      "Oh, shit."
I watched as an object arced through the air and crashed through my third floor window. I leapt to the next building and landed just as an explosion ripped through the side of my building. I scrambled to the edge and looked at my building. I watched as the side of the building slowly gave out and the whole building collapsed.
"No!" I yelled.
The robots continued down the street. I climbed down the fire escape of the building and climbed the rubble of the building.
"Crane!...Crane!...Crane!" I yelled.
I heard a lot of bricks shuffle. I scrambled over to them and saw a part of Crane's arm sticking out. I dug with my hands and threw bricks out of the way.
Crane was buried beneath bricks and rubble. I attempted to free them. Crane put his arm on my chest and pushed me away. As he did the building started to slide away. I looked to where it was going. The town was being lifted out of the ground and into the sky. I tried harder to free Crane but he just pushed me backwards again. I slid off the rubble and the pile fell off the side of the lifted city. Crane was gone for good.
"Damn it!" I said as I slammed my fist on the ground.
I heard metal behind me. I shifted to face behind me. The robot lifted me off the ground by my throat. It's eyes turned red and he began to speak.
"What's all this knowledge I detect? What do you have for me?" the robot said as he reached into my jacket pocket, pulling out a computer hard drive.
"Give that back!" I choked out, my hands scratching at my throat. You're no longer of use to me. His fingers tightened on my throat.
"Hey!" a voice yelled.
A shield came flying through the air and smashed into the robots side then flew back to the thrower, Captain America.
Shit, the Avengers are here.
The robot released me and took aim at Cap.
"Not today, asshole."
I blasted him with my gun.
I searched through the scraps until I found my drive. I put it back in my pocket. Captain America ran up to me.
"You look familiar kid. Have we met before?"
"No. I don't think so."
"Huh..."
There was a ton of footsteps behind us. We turned and saw more robots coming after us. The one in front had red glowing eyes.
"Bring me the child."
I hefted my rifle on my shoulder and looked into the scope. I shot at a few of the robots.
"Do you ever stop and think before you go head first into something?"
"You'd be surprised as to why..." I mumbled.
Cap charged into battle and began to take down more of the robots. I shot from afar.
Me and Cap quickly fell into sync and fought flawlessly. At the end Cap crouched down and held his shield slightly above him, I ran up used it as a step and leaped into the air, I shot the remaining of them whilst in the air before landing into a roll.
"Damn, kid. You'd make a good Avenger. How old are you?"
      "Fourteen."
"Fourteen? Where'd you learn to fight like that?"
"I've been on my own for four years. I picked up a thing or two."
Cap looked shocked, "What's your name, kid?"
      "Y/N."
"Well, Y/N. Nice to meet you." he held out his hand.
      I shook it once.
He smiled at me and my heart melted.
"C'mon. You're with me." he said.
I thought about it for a moment, then followed him further into the streets.
He asked me questions about myself as we jogged, I didn't mind, most people were curious once they heard a little about me.
Eventually we fell into sync, he would ask me a question, I would ask him a question. We met up with Black Widow.
"What's the situation?"
"Tony's working on a way to get this thing grounded. So far the bots are being handled."
She looked to me.
"What's your situation?" she asked, confused.
Cap was about to speak, but I cut him off.
"The name's Y/N. Cap helped me, so I helped him with some bots."
"You were able to fight Ultron's bots?"
I hefted my gun and aimed over her shoulder. She was about to attack, but I fired and she looked to where my blast went. I shot one of the bots in the chest leaving a perfect circle hole. It collapsed.
"Damn, kid."
"I brought him with me cause we were fighting well together." Cap said.
"Yeah, wait till the government hears that Captain America willing put a thirteen year old in danger."
"Fourteen." I corrected, "And I came willingly it was my choice to come. Cap didn't force anything upon me."
Black Widow looked at me questioningly. Then nodded once and looked back to Cap. She raised a hand to her ear, most likely intercepting something from someone on her ear piece.
"We've got word from Tony. We need to protect the church at all costs. Not a single bot can get to it."
Cap nodded and then turned to me.
"This will probably get bad. You sure you wanna stick around?" he asked.
"What do I have to lose?" I said.
There was a hint of sympathy in Cap's eyes, then he nodded.
      "Let's move out." he said.
When we got to the church they were already defending. Most of them were already too involved in what they were doing to even notice that I was there helping them. I shot bot after bot.
I looked at Cap's motions and figured out where he would be in five seconds, then made a quick calculation of trajectory and angle. Then shot a laser towards his shield, it ricocheted off and blasted through three robots on his 6.
He looked to me and winked.
      My heart melted again.
"Oh my god...what's happening to me?" I thought.
I continued to shoot bots until people starting splitting off from the church and going to get people off of the floating rock.
I looked around for Cap, but he was nowhere to be seen. I couldn't find him. I saw Black Widow handling a few bots.
      "Widow! Where's Cap?" I called.
She took down the last bot, then turned to me. "I don't know! It wasn't my turn to babysit him this time!" she called back.
      We smiled at each other.
"Go help Hawkeye!" she yelled, running to the next group of robots.
I looked around for him and saw him helping people towards the ships. I ran up to him.
"I'm under orders from Black Widow to help you out." I said.
"Are you sure she didn't want me to help you out? Like to the ships?"
I stood up and shot the rest of the bots that were charging us. They collapsed to the ground, melting partially.
"I'm sure." I said, starting to trudge further into the battlefield.
I turned to see Cap fighting off bots.
      "There you are..." I thought.
I ran closer as he started to get overwhelmed and shot a couple of them off him. He handled the rest.
"Glad you walked by in time..." he huffed.
"Widow said that it wasn't her turn to babysit! I assumed it must've been mine!"
Even from a distance I could see the smile on his face and the twinkle in his eye, then all of a sudden I saw it drop, and the last words I heard were: "Look out!" Before I collapsed to the ground, my vision going blurry.
I saw a robot with red eyes lean over me, he was saying something but I couldn't make it out.
"What...? Speak louder...I need to change...my hearing aid...battery..." I mumbled, drearily, smiling a little.
Then I saw a flash of red and the robot collapsed, Cap stood over me.
"Kid! Kid! Kid?" he said trying to get me on my feet.
"Oh...my knight in blue spandex..." I said sarcastically, still regaining full consciousness.
"You good, kid?"
I rubbed my temple as the sound, previously blurred, came to full volume and I could hear again. My vision clicked into place and my head stopped pounding slightly.
"You good, kid?" Cap asks again.
"I'm supposed to be babysitting you, Captain." I said with a smirk.
"You've got spunk, kid." he says. "...and sass." he adds.
"Wonder where I get that from...?" I thought.
"You alright to join the fight again, kid?"
"Whaaat?" I blew a raspberry. "Of course I am. I'm fine..."
I went to take a step forward, lost my balance, heard Cap yell: "Kid!", then everything went black.
