I jogged up the metal stairs, getting pulled up them by Charlie, his hand still connected to mine. Steve and Nat were close behind.
He threw open a door then jumped back as he took a step out.
A men dressed in all black ballistic gear was there with a gun.
He spun around and threw me in front, the man hefted his gun. I whirled around kicking his aim away, bullets firing wildly around the stairwell. I rammed forward with my shoulder and swiped his feet out from under him.
I grabbed his gun and wedged it in between the door frame and the handle, holding it shut.
"Go, go, go!" I said nudging Charlie further up the stairs.
He grabbed my hand again and pulled me after him.
"We won't be on ground level, but we should still be able to escape." he said.
He led us all the way up the stairwell, to where it said roof access. We opened the door and jogged onto the roof.
As we approached the edge of the building a voice called out.
"Where do you think you're going, Stark!"
We all spun around to see James standing in the roof access door. He had blood dripping from his forehead, and a bruised lip.
"You don't appear to be in any shape to fight back, James." Nat said.
"Not all is what it appears to be, Miss Romanoff. Mr. Stark here isn't the only one with access to technology."
He pressed a button on his phone and moments later a large metal grey suit landed in front of him. He stepped inside and I watched as a red liquid flowed through several different tubes around the suit. The exterior looked almost identical to Ultron, and when all of the liquid converged at the center, the heart and eyes glowed a bright, blood red.
"Ahahaha...the raw power. Do you like it? I call her Bloodmetal, it seemed fitting...do I seem ready to fight now...?"
I felt Charlie squeeze my hand. I turned to look at him.
"Do something..." he mumbled.
Steve and Nat rushed forward and charged Bloodmetal. I stood shocked, gripping Charlie's hand.
"What would you like me to do, sir?" Smoak said.
"I-I..."
Bloodmetal easily fended off Steve and Nat, tossing them aside and throwing them like rag dolls.
His sight landed on me and he took a step forward. My eyes shot to where Natasha was knocked out on the floor.
Bloodmetal picked up Steve by one of his legs and hefted him higher. He reared his arm and threw Steve easily over the edge of the short building. I heard a crash as he landed on a car.
"Steve!"
"Boss, what would you like me to do?" Smoak said even more insistent.
Charlie squeezed my hand even tighter, I looked over my shoulder, up at him. He was looking down at me, his chocolate eyes looked terrified.
"You know what to do." I said with a smirk.
"On it, boss."
"You really are nothing but a smug rich kid, aren't you...?" Bloodmetal said.
"Yeah...you could say that...but I'm also a genius..."
With a loud thud, the Renegade suit landed in front of me. It opened with the familiar whirs and clicks and I stepped into it. Charlie's hand slipped out of mine as I stepped forward.
I sighed as the suit enveloped me.
My data display appeared in my mask and Smoak's voice box chimed in.
"All systems go, boss." Smoak said.
"Let's kick some ass."
I flew forward and delivered an uppercut to Bloodmetal, causing him to stagger back.
I kicked him with both legs, when he was recoiling. Then flipped backwards and landed in a crouch.
"Argh! No! Not today, Stark! You don't get to win! You Starks have won enough! You'll see just how powerful I really am!"
The red liquid in the tubes grew brighter, and the eyes on the helmet slowly got brighter until a red beam shot out of the visor and raced towards me. I tried to shoot out of the way, but it hit me before I had the chance. I flew backwards and landed on my back.
"Y/N!" Charlie yelled, rushing up to me.
      "Charlie," I groaned. "Go. Hide."
I tried to push him away.
"No, you're hurt." he said sympathetically.
I could see the defiance in his eyes.
"You don't get to take away my work. Not this time. He belongs to me!"
Bloodmetal shot forward at a run.
An infuriated look passed over Charlie's face as he slowly rose to his feet.
      "...I belong to no one..."
A loud rattle of thunder broke the sky and I looked up to see clouds spiraling above us. Rain began to pelt down.
"No no no!" Bloodmetal yelled charging Charlie.
The wind picked up, blowing the rain almost horizontally.
      "...Charlie...?" I mumbled.
He turned to me. His eyes were aglow with lightning and they sparked with electricity.
      "I won't be a science experiment anymore..."
"That's all you are! That's all you'll ever be!" Bloodmetal screamed over the wind.
Charlie raised his hands to the sky, a bolt of lightning shot down and formed a perfect sphere in between his palms. Then he aimed his hands at Bloodmetal and the lightning sphere shot a bolt at him. He flew backwards and smashed into an electrical box. Arcs of electricity bounced around his suit and the tubes of red liquid popped off and flew around violently, spraying the red solution everywhere.
When the electricity stopped, the suit fell limp.
The rain slowly lessened until it was no more, as the dust settled on the roof, Charlie came back over to me. I saw Natasha starting to get up. I had my helmet retract, fully.
He crouched down to one knee and met my eyes.
      "I hope I didn't scare you."
"So long as you're on my side, I have nothing to be scared of."
"Your suit looks like Iron Man."
"Yeah, he's my dad. You didn't piece that together, he kept calling me 'Mr. Stark' you know?"
"It's been awhile. I guess I just didn't realize Tony had a kid."
"Yeah, well, Tony didn't know until a few months ago either."
      He chuckled.
"So you can control the weather...?" I groaned, pushing myself to my knees, and having Charlie help me to my feet.
"Yeah, and all aspects of it. The only catch is that I have to have access to the outside somehow, at least for the full extent of my powers."
"What's your story? How'd you get em?"
"We'll have time for that later..." he said.
      I nodded.
I limped over to where the Bloodmetal suit lay, Charlie behind me.
I reached down and ripped the face mask off, and dropped it to the ground in surprise.
      He was gone.
      His suit abandoned.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, I turned to see Natasha.
"We'll get him. We need to go check on Steve. Make sure to contact the authorities."
      "Already did." Smoak said.
"Let's go." she said making her way for the edge of the building.
I walked over to the edge and wrapped an arm around Charlie's waist, then floated down to the street level.
Natasha has already climbed down and was making her way towards the car Steve landed on. He was unconscious and bruised.
Nay grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled him off the car. I saw someone come jogging around the corner, it was Bucky.
Charlie jumped and grew a little skittish.
"It's okay, he's a friendly." I said. "His name is Bucky."
"Who's our new friend...?" Bucky mumbled making his way to Steve.
"My name is Charlie." he said. "They saved me."
He gestured to me, Nat, and Steve.
"Well...good for you..." he said unsure.
Bucky grabbed Steve and picked him up bridal style, carrying him towards the van.
      Nat followed closely after him.
I stepped out of my suit and it fired off into the sky.
I sighed and wiped some blood from my lip, then slipped my glasses onto my face.
"Let's go..." I sighed, following Nat.
