I awoke to Cap shaking my shoulder.
"Wake up, kid. Time for school."
"Ugh."
"I'm sure the principle is gonna wanna talk to you so yes, you have to go. Get ready. I'm taking you today."
"Don't you gave hero duties to do?" I asked.
"Not today. Peter's riding with us too."
"Okay..."
I fixed my hair brushed my teeth, put on a blue shirt, black jacket, black joggers, and black shoes. I put on my glasses, now with Smoak integrated into them.
"Smoak, you there?"
"Yes."
"Perfect."
I went out to where Tony was leaning across the counter talking to Peter. There was a drink carrier with coffee's in them. When Tony saw me he held one out.
"Morning, Y/N."
"Morning, dad."
"Hey, Pete."
"Hey, Y/N."
"Cap said he was taking us, don't know if you knew already."
"Wait. Like, Captain America is taking us to school?"
"Yeah."
He visibly got a little nervous, but excited too.
"Thanks for the coffee, dad." I said.
"Thank, Pepper." He gestured to Pepper who had just walked into the kitchen.
"Thanks for the coffee, Pepper."
"'Course." she said continuing down the hallway.
"Guys! Let's go!" Steve yelled up the stairway.
I looked to my dad, then walked up to him and gave him a quick shoulder hug. He was shocked.
"Bye, dad."
"See ya."
I jogged down to catch up with Peter and Steve. Peter was bombarding him with questions. I rolled my eyes and smiled.
Steve got in the drivers seat of his car, and I crawled in the passenger seat.
The ride was mostly quiet, when we pulled up to the school Peter got out and thanked him for the ride, but Steve asked me stay for a minute.
"Yeah?"
"Please, try to get through the day without any schemes. For my sake, and your dad's. Just try. Okay?"
I met his eyes and nodded.
When I walked in Francis called me into the office and I sat down across from Mrs. Washington.
"I got a call from your father yesterday. He explained some things. Which has caused me to change your sentence back to the original two weeks detention, and we're going to eliminate the ISS. For now. But I swear to god, if you bring alcohol onto school grounds one more time, I will not hesitate to expel you. Got it?"
I nodded.
"If you can prove to me that you can go a day without igniting trouble, I might lessen your sentence even more. Okay?"
"Okay."
"Okay. Have a good day."
"Thank you." I left the office without a second glance.
The day dragged on and on, me and Mj goofed off in all our classes, but that was the only bad thing that happened. I walked up to the lunch table and sat across from Mj. I looked to the other end of the table where Peter and Ned sat.
"Did Liz get a new top?" Peter said.
"No, we just haven't see it with that skirt." Ned said.
Peter continued watching.
"We should probably stop staring before it gets weird." Ned said.
Mj looked up from her book.
"Too late, you guys are losers."
"On the highest of scales." I added.
They turned to us.
Me and Mj fist-bumped as we laughed.
They went back to their lunches.
"You have so many friends, Y/N. Why do still choose to sit here? Especially when you have all of these girls fawning over you."
She gestured to the number of girls around the room, staring at me. I tossed a wave and a wink to one. She blushed and squealed.
"My point." she said.
"Cause I like sitting with you." I said.
She met my eyes then went back to reading her book. I smiled at her.
After the bell rang and we all went to our lockers I went to my final period. My one class without Mj. I finished the worksheet before everyone else, except Peter, as usual. I pulled out my phone and began to mess around.
Thirty minutes later the bell rang and I went to get my stuff from my locker. I was walking towards the exit. Mrs. Washington was walking the opposite way, she nodded respectfully as we passed. She was proud of my trouble-free day.
I was about to head for the doors, but I heard commotion down the hallway and people were looking at something.
I headed down to see what it was.
There was a group of guys pushing someone around and yelling things.
I tried to see who was in there.
"Who is that?" I asked the person next to me, they shrugged.
"It is Mr. Peter Parker, sir." Smoak said.
"Peter." I whispered.
I walked towards one of the guys.
"What the hell am I doing...?"
I tapped on his shoulder.
"Hey, leave the nerd alone."
The guy turned towards me.
"What are you gonna do about it?"
"You just had to ask didn't you...?" I said taking off my backpack and tossing it to Peter. He caught it barely.
"I'll give you one more chance to back off..." I said.
"I'm so scared, Rich Boy."
"You should be."
He threw a punch towards me but I dodged it and caught his arm, kneeing him in the gut, then punching his nose. There was a thin line of blood coming down from it.
He scrambled away and down the hall, his friends followed. Peter handed me my backpack. I shook my knuckles.
I heard a foot rapidly clicking behind me. I turned. Mrs. Washington was standing there tapping her foot.
"That's another two days of detention, Stark. On Saturdays. I got a call a few minutes ago. Your father is picking you up today. Not your driver. Wait till he hears about this..." she said sinisterly.
I nodded slowly, not meeting her eyes.
I turned back to Peter. Everyone else had already left.
"You said you wanted nothing to do with me, why'd you help?"
"I'm trying to get into the mindset of helping the helpless. And you seemed exceptionally helpless."
He nodded, a smile tugging at his lips.
"Let's go."
I looked into the office window and saw Mrs. Washington on the phone. She glanced at me and met my eyes. I looked away.
"Your dad's gonna be so mad, Y/N. You shouldn't have done that for me." Peter said.
"What's done is done." I mumbled.
Peter held the door open for me and I stepped out into the sun.
A nice Audi was parked out front. The window rolled down, Tony was the driver.
"Get in. Y/N, you're in front." he snapped.
I walked around the car and got in the passenger seat. I sat down and sighed.
"Don't give me that sighing bullshit. You promised you would straighten yourself out and now you go and punch some kid! That's worse than the beach fiasco!"
"The what...?" Peter mumbled.
"I didn't just randomly punch him, I wa-"
"I don't care why you did it! It's the fact that you did! If you think you can get out of this without punishment you are out of your mind! Phone. Now."
I took my phone out and gave it to him. He put it in his suit jacket inside pocket.
"Mr. Stark, Y/N was ju-"
"Can it, Parker. Not another word."
The rest of the ride was silent. When we got there Tony got into the base before either of us, he walked away from us before we could even say anything. I threw my bag by the door.
"Smoak, where's Cap?"
"In the gym."
I immediately went there. I pushed open the door and saw Steve bench lifting a huge amount of weight. I walked up to his head and pushed down on the bar until it was up against his chest. He let out a grunt.
"I need your help."
"With?"
"My dad."
I sat down on the edge of the bar and faced him.
"I did something today, but I had a very good reason. But he won't listen to me."
He started lifting the bar with me still on it. I quickly regained my balance where I was sitting and let him lift me up with it, going up and down.
"What'd you do, kid?"
"Punched someone..." I mumbled.
He sighed, "What's your reason?"
"He was bullying Peter, and shoving him around. I was protecting Peter."
"And he doesn't know that?"
"No. And he won't listen."
"So, what? You want me to talk to him. Is that why you came here?"
"No. I want you to teach me some fighting. I want to take my anger out."
He smiled and set the bar back down. I hopped off.
"Finally. Go change, I'll set up here." he said.
I nodded and put on some athletic clothes. Black shorts, a blue hoodie with the sleeves cut off to be a tank top, and blue tennis shoes.
I went back down to the gym, Steve was waiting.
"Hold our your hands." he said.
I did as he said and he wrapped my hands in the cotton wraps. He stepped into the boxing ring and slid on punch mitts. I followed in after him. He held his hands up for me to punch the pads.
"Hit the pads as if you were trying to hit me with medium strength. Not too much damage, but definitely to stun me."
I hit the pad with a palm strike and put all my strength behind it. He staggered back a little.
"Good. Again."
I continued to strike the pads. Right, right, left , right, left, left, right, left, right, right.
"Good. Now harder."
I clenched my hand into a full fist and hit the pads harder.
We practiced punches for a long time before someone knocked on the door framed already looking at us.
"So after I yell at you for punching someone, you decide to go hide with Cap and have him teach you to punch properly?" Tony said.
"...yes...?" I responded, skeptical.
"Well, Peter talked to me. I understand why you did it. And while it still wasn't right, I respect what you did. Peter needs someone to stick up for him every once in a while."
I nodded once.
"We're having dinner tomorrow night. All the Avengers, plus you and Peter. And Pepper. Be there."
"I will be."
He nodded then left.
I walked out of the ring and started taking off my wraps.
"Thanks, Steve."
"Yeah. If you ever want more training, I'd be glad to offer it to you."
I went to my room, taking a shower.
I put on some comfy clothes and went back down to the lab.
"Smoak, where are we on the 'Renegade Project'?"
"Fabrications and construction has been complete. All that's left is the final coding touches. And inserting the power source. It will require quite a bit of power.
"What about...one of Tony's old arc reactors. Like the one in the Iron Man suit?"
"That might work. There is some in the engineering room."
I walked off and retrieved one then handed it to the construction bot and returned to coding.
"'Renegade Project' at 97% completion." Smoak said.
I smiled to myself.
