I drove down the freeway wondering how the hell, come september, I was to be incharge of thirty something children's futures, at whatever rundown school I was to be teaching at. I parked across the street, because they wash that half of the streets tuesdays.

I walked into something I've never seen before. Niall, Harry, Louis and Zayn all huddling around the door to the greenhouse. I could see this from down the hall.

"What's going on?"

When I called, they all sprung up. Harry came and gave me a hug, flinging his arms around my neck and his legs around my waist, toppling me over. I landed on the wood floor, and let out a cry.

"Oh my god, Valerie, I'm so sorry!"

He said, lifting me into his arms.

My back stung quite a bit, any my neck was sore. I landed on my funnybone in my elbow, so that was tingling.

"That's ok. Uh what's going on?"

They all came and congregated around me.

"We.. ok so we think it's something about Danielle." Louis said.

"What?!"

"Shhh, keep it down." Zayn shushed.

We were on the other side of the house from the greenhouse, as from the front door you could walk all the way to the greenhouse.

"We want you-" Louis said, pointing at me,

"to go there-" pointing the door down the hall where Liam's quiet sobs could be heard.

"and talk," making talking motions with his fingers and thumb hitting together.

"to him." Motioning down the hall again.

"Oh, ok," I sighed, shrugging my purse off my shoulder, almost handed it to Harry but thought better of it, and threw it on the couch. I started my journey.

I passed the stairs, and some doors, and the kitchen, and some more doors. I finally reached the door, and the sobs were louder. Then they stopped, after my foot hit a particularly creaky floorboard.

I knocked hesitantly.

I got no reply, but a weak, pitiful sound. Is Liam even there? I'm sure that's not Liam.

I opened the door, and in the moonlight streaming throught the glass, I could make out a mess of sheets and comforters in the center of the king size bed.

"Liam?"

A human being rolled over, emerging from the mess of sheets. He rolled a bit to fall, and landed on the floor with a thump.

"mphmmhmmnmmbuh"

"What's wrong?"

"She," He sobbed some more, rolled onto his back, and sat up.

His face was brilliantly red, eyes swollen.

"SHE WANTS A DIVORCE." He shouted, anger getting into his system.

"Liam, come 'ere" I said, that, but went to him. I pulled him up onto the bed, and wrapped my arms around him. I sat on his lap, and smoothed out his hair as he hung his head on my shoudler, tears wetting the corner of my sweater.

"shhh, it's ok. it will all be ok."

"It won't be, though."

"Don't worry..."

"Val, what if I..."

"what if you.."

"Did this?"

Wet lips hit mine.

Liam kissed me.
