YOUR POV

I ran away from my home the day that aliens attacked New York. I couldn't take it anymore. My father was abusive, always had been ever since I could remember. My mother was a strong woman, but the strong ones seem the easiest to break. She took the beatings for me, receiving them daily. Until one day it went too far. My father killed my mother, broke her windpipe and then left her to rot.

Since then I've carried my scars and looked into the devils eyes more than once. From a young age I was hell bound. I didn't think I was worthy of being saved or not. Till I ran away. My father takes naps in the afternoons after one of my beatings. I picked the lock on my bedroom door and ran out of the building with my backpack. This wasn't a home.

The Avengers found me when the aliens were gone. It was a readheaded woman who saved me from under a pile of rubble. I could see the worry and curiosity swimming in her green eyes. They had a doctor come and check me out for any injuries that I might have suffered. What they found was a shock to me and the other hero's.

My ribs were all broken and healed incorrectly that they were pressing against my lungs. The doctor wanted to rebreak them so I could breathe better. I told her no. Of course it wasn't my decision. Black Widow was took me in and gave me a place to stay at the compound. Eventually I learned her name was Natasha and got along well with the other members.

I was able to open up to Nat, tell her about my past and in turn she did the same. She promised me that man would never lay a finger on me again, and I believed her. I enjoyed my time at the Avengers tower, finding a home inside the many walls and inside the people. I felt safe here.

And to think all that was three years ago.

"You should eat your pancakes before they get cold." Natasha said breaking me out of my thoughts.

"Huh? Oh! Right! Thank you for breakfast." I shoved a bite of pancake in my mouth.

"Where'd you go off to?" The woman asked, leaning against the counter.

"I was just thinking about how I got here. Saving me from the rubble was enough but this... you've given me a proper home. Thank you."

"Nobody should have to suffer like that. That man will get what's coming to him." Her tone became gruff at the end when she talked about my father.

"Hey, kid." Steve smiled warmly at me as he walked into the kitchen.

"Do you own any shirts that aren't too small on you?" I asked the super solider, waiting for his muscles to rip through his white shirt.

Steve laughed as he plated up some of the pancakes Nat had made onto a plate of his own, "I'm afraid not."

"Hey y/n!" Clint hugged me from behind, not so subtly stealing a bite of my pancakes. Nat slapped him on his hand in disapproval, causing him to whine.

"I made enough for everyone, Clint. Stop trying to steal y/ns."

NATASHAS POV

"I found a foster family for y/n." Tony told me quietly, looking around the corner to see if anyone was coming.

"What!?" I hissed.

"Y/n needs to be around normal people with normal jobs. She needs to meet kids her own age and go to school and not be sheltered in the tower. Look, I'm sorry Nat. I'm doing the right thing before one of our enemies comes for her to get to us."

"How do you even know these people will be good enough to take care of y/n?" I growled at the ebony haired man.

"They have two kids of their own, lovely home and stable, well paying jobs. They're living the American dream, Nat. That's what y/n needs. She doesn't need to worry if one of us is coming back from a month long mission or not."

"I can't believe you, Tony." I shook my head at him in disappointment before walking away. I had to go and find y/n.

[...]

I found y/n in her room watching something on the television with Clint. Both of them kept laughing and I smiled at how close they became. I knew Clint wanted children at some point with whoever he married, so I knew he loved hanging out with the girl.

"Hey Clint, can I talk to y/n for a second?" I spoke up from my position in the doorway. Clint nodded his head with a smile, telling y/n something before leaving.

"What's up?" The y/h/c asked me, pausing the show.

I cleared my throat, walking further into the room, "Tony found a... foster family for you,"

Her face fell and my heart clenched at how sad she had become, "Oh."

"But I don't want you to go be with some foster family. I want you to stay here with me and the rest of us." I told her honestly.

She looked up at me, a small hopefully glint in her eye, "What are you saying?"

"I'm saying I want to adopt you. I want to be your foster mom."

A smile crept its way onto her face and my worries were silenced, "I'd like that." She replied gleefully.

I smiled back, "Let's go tell the team."

[...]

"We'd love for you to officially be apart of our family, y/n." Steve smiled as he pulled the girl into her chest for a warm embrace. Soon the other team members started hugging her and a group hug formed.

"Come on in here Tony!" Bruce gestured Stark over.

"Do you guys not see how dangerous this is for her?" Tony shook his head in disappointment.

"Tony.." Clint sighed.

"She's well protected Tony. You'd have to be stupid to assault Avengers tower. Plus Nat and Clint, and the rest of us, can train her to defend her if something were to happen." Steve said.

"Yes Tin man! Let Lady y/n stay!" Thor picked up y/n and twirled her around, both of them laughing joyfully.

"Yeah, come on Tony. Don't think I didn't see those blueprints for a suit of armor for y/n that you're making." Bruce nudged his friend.

Tony sighed in defeat, "Alright, the firecracker can stay."

We all cheered as y/n ran into his arms and hugged him.

Later I officially became y/ns mother and it was set that if anything were to happen to me, Clint was going to take care of her and keep her safe. We were one big happy family.
