I chewed on my nails as the live feed coming from New York and its alien invasion played dramatically on my television screen. My heart leapt every time they showed the standoffish ginger who stole my heart.
We met, hit it off, had a wonderful time, messed around more than once, and then, she was gone.

"You're still not over her?" My friend Scott would say.
"I don't want to talk about it." I would reply before making myself busy doing pointless tasks.

I know she felt the same, I could see it in the way her lips would curl up into a smile or the way her sea green eyes sparkled in the light streaming in through the blinds after a steamy night.
She never said goodby either, and that just angered me even more. And the more I dwelled on it, the more the giant sized hole festered and ached.

I saw her one day when I was walking downtown. I stopped in my tracks, letting people bump into me as I just stared at the red head who was drinking her coffee. She brought the cup up to her lips just in time to hide her smile.
My heart hammered in my chest as I watched her hand reach out and touch someone else, a man with shoulder length black hair and a metal arm.
The man smiled kindly at her before taking a drink of his own beverage. I sniffled before beginning to walk away from where I was standing.
