ANNA'S POV

When Satoshi said Daniel's reason for doing what he did to me was absurd, I was preparing myself for the worse.

But I haven't expected something so simple like this.

"So, just to make sure..." I said to Daniel who is currently shackled to the side of the room. This is actually a basement, the whole room was created like it was a prison cell. There are also devices scattered around that are meant for torturing people.

Have I already told you that this room stink? The putrid smell of urine, feces, blood, sweat and vomit made me want to gag the moment I went inside. But my desire of freeing this boy － as well as Mr.Smith －of their impending death made me strong. This is a mind over matter thing.

"Just to be sure I wasn't hearing things, you did all of this just because of a girl?" I asked in English.

Daniel, who looked like he had lost all hope in this world, answered back in English, "She's not just a girl. She was the love of my life, the only girl I've fallen in love with. She's my first love, but I made a mistake when I cheated. Now that I realised my mistake, she was already obsessed with that boy, the boy named Miel. I've tried to get back her trust for years, but she kept ignoring me. Until one day; she asked a favor and I'm excited she finally noticed me. She told me if I could get rid of the girl named Anna, she would reconsider me. So I said yes, without hesitation, without even thinking."

"Even if corrupting the bond you have with the clan," Mr.Smith, who is beside me, said. Disappointment is in his voice. "you dumb boy, your loyalty is messed up. You risked your life just because of a girl. A girl that obviously used you for her own gain."

"I know that," Daniel's voice is quiet, like he had already given up. "I know that, pop. I made a grave mistake again."

I can't help but be emotional when Daniel started to cry. It started to make sense. I already know what's happening.

"Antonette Rodriguez," I said out loud. Daniel looked at me with that. "that's the girl that you love, right?"

"Yes, you're right. She told me you hated her too much you started to bully her," Daniel said. "I hated you because of that. I don't want her to be in any kind of pain."

I sighed. "I'm sorry to tell you that it's the other way around. I have already figured it out. She, together with Rumia, they were the one responsible with the incident in Baguio. I don't know what's their motive, but apparently, they want me gone."

"Is it true, Anna-san?" Yoh said. "So the people who are bullying you..."

"Is connected to Daniel's plan," I told them. "last time, they locked me inside a restricted bathroom, with no lights and window. It triggered my panic attacks."

"Anna-san, is this why...?"

"Takei-san asked you for different kinds of meditation songs, yes, this is the reason why. I told him it's not necessary, but he insisted."

"You should have told us," Takahashi said. "that way, we could－"

"I know you all would," I cut his words. "that's why I kept this. I don't want anyone of them involved anymore. One death is already enough," I was pertaining about Kaoru's death. "They're just teens － normal teenagers who know nothing but pranks and games and love. How about us? We're not normal, this is already our life. Our lives is always at stake. I am slowly accepting that fact, but seeing that another innocent life would be at risk again because of my true identity, I can't take that. No more."
