"HEY DUMBASS, you up?" annabelle spoke from the otherside of dustin's door.

"yeah, yeah. i'm up" he yelled back.

"jesus, don't fucking yell. my head's killing me" she groaned. "come on, i'm taking you to school".

"no you aren't. i have stuff to do" he hollered back.

"yes, i am. mom said so" she informed him, walking away before he got the chance to protest again. "what's for breakfast?".

"nothing. i have to go to work early so you'll have to buy something from the store. here's ten dollars". claudia handed Annabelle the cash before kissing her forehead. "love you both. and don't forget to lock up" she yelled.

herself and her mother had gotten slightly closer in the past few days. dustin staying out of trouble being the main reason for it, as her mother had more time for her.

"hey, dingus. hurry up, we're gonna be late" she yelled again as dustin finally emerged. "get that bike of yours into the trunk of my car and i'll drive you wherever you need to go to" she told him.

"haven't you already checked out like seven books this week?" annabelle asked as they entered the library.

"hush, my darling sister or you'll foil my plan" he shushed, walking ahead. "if my plan fails, i need you to do what you do best" he told her.

"no way am i assaulting a librarian, dust".

"i meant lie" he scoffed.

annabelle watched as her brother walked around the library, picking up books from multiple different shelves. "okay, follow my lead" he told her, before walking over to the desk and placing the books in front of the librarian, smiling sweetly.

"mr henderson, you know the rules. five at a time" she stated.

"yep" he replied confidently before counting the books "one, two, three, four and five".

she shuffled under her desk before coming out with a piece of paper. "ten. you already have five books checked out" she told him, taking glances at annabelle every now and again.

"my mistake. however, i am on a curiosity voyage, and i need my paddles to travel. these books; these books are my paddles". annabelle snickered at his sentence, the librarian looking as unimpressed as ever.

"five. at. a. time".

"are you shitting me?" dustin asked as annabelle stepped on his foot in warning.

"excuse me?" annabelle interrupted, deciding to step in. "what the hell is...". as the librerian turned to see what she was pointing towards, she and dustin ran out quickly with the books.

"mr henderson!".

"i need my paddles!".

thet ran towards annabelle's car, both laughing. "im on a curiosity voyage" annabelle mocked her brother as they got into the car. he chuckled slightly. "what's up with the reptile books anyway?" she asked him out of curiosity.

"i'm not sure what creature the thing in the trashcan was. he has reptile like skin but hates warmth and eats nougat" he briefly explained as she nodded, driving towards the store.

"you know, i could've said the books were for me and to put them under my name" she trailed off as dustin scoffed.

"like anyone'd believe that you read". she onlt rolled her eyes.

"we're already ten minutes late to school, so we'll run in, grab shit, pay and run out." she told him as they pulled up. they got out and ran inside, seperating to go and get what they wanted. annabelle went down each isle, finally grabbing a readily made sandwich and getting a coffee from the small diner inside the shop.

within ten minutes they met up back at annabelle's car before heading to hawkins middle school, where ten minutes later she pulled up into the empty parking lot. "see ya later dustin" she waved him off. they were beyond late at this point. dustin pulled out his bike from the back before placing it on the stand and running into the school. annabelle drove down towards hawkins high-school, being later herself.

she entered her second class of the day a mere five minutes late, but all eyes were on her as she took off her sunglasses.

"late. again" the teacher announced as they both glared at each other.

"yeah well, i had to help dustin steal books" she uttered as she shoved passed the teacher, students snickering at her excuse.

"you had to help dustin steal books?" jonathan repeated, brows furrowed.

"yeah" she admitted, chuckling. "and we had to go get breakfast, which i still haven't eaten" she pointed to the coffee and sandwich in her hands.

"hangover" jonathan stated, knowing she believed coffee was the number one cure for a hangover.

"how's wheeler?" she questioned silently as he sighed.

"she feels worse than she looks".

"bitch had it coming" annabelle stated, regret and remorse not in her vocabulary.

"no eating in my class henderson" the teacher warned as annabelle took the first bite of her food.

"guess i'm off" annabelle muttered, grabbinh her stuff before shooting a wink towards her friend.

"you step out of this room and thats your second strike this week. four strikes and your suspended again" the teacher threatened.

"that's a risk im gonna to take" she shoved passed the teacher before turning around. "bye, johnny boy" she winked as he let out a groan of embarrassment before she walked out, walking towards the gym where her next lesson was. she sat on the bleachers, contemplating everything that had happened all week.

in the period of a week she'd managed to get into three fights, countless arguments, four detentions, and had two strikes. if she carried on like this, she'd surely break some kind of record.
