ANNABELLE WOKE UP the next day with only one thing on her mind, calling a certain mullet haired boy.

she dialed the familiar phone number, and waited.

"hello?" the tired voice of billy answered as annabelle took a deep breath.

"hey, pretty boy" she greeted, sounding too happy to be up at nine in the morning.

"are you okay?  you're cheery, it's disturbing" billy remarked, his voice monotone which was abnormal for the usually teasing one he spoke to her with.

"yeah. i just wanted to check in and make sure you got home safe and to say sorry for ditching driving duty" she lied, in hopes of dragging out the conversation.

"it's cool, anna. i went home with carol since she lives near me" he exclaimed, before silently cursing for letting the information slip.

"oh" was all annabelle could get out, trying not to lash. "i'd better be going, i have stuff to do. talk later" she excused, hanging up without a goodbye meaning that billy now had to come over to reassure her.

he groaned, attempting to sit up as the hangover hit. he looked into the drawer besides him, thankful that annabelle had left a pack of pain killers for herself there, and took one dry, gagging at the texture.

getting changed he went over the events of the night before, remembering how annabelle had left with steve and how he was hurt by it, so in revenge he danced with carol, before noticing she had more elaborate plans than just dancing, then having to explain his situation with annabelle, only to have carol throw up on him.

the night ended with him and tommy dragging her home, neither of them fit enough to do so at the time but gave it a try as they wanted to make sure she got home safe.

he decided on telling anna the truth, knowing that she could tell when he lied. meanwhile, annabelle was making herself a bowl of ghost buster cereal for her and dustin.

"i heard you sneaking in last night" he murmered through a mouth full.

"did you now?".

"yeah. i wont tell". annabelle only nodded, fidgeting with her belt buckle. "but now we're even". she barked up a laugh in spite of her brother.

"how does you not telling mum that i snuck out last night make up for everything i've done for you?".

"because you're not in her good books and you know as much as i do that it could most definitely be the last straw" he remined her, earning sigh and an eyeroll.

"you owe me two more favours and a pack of gum" annabelle negotiated.

"not up for negotiation".

"fine. two more favours and i'll be you and your dumb friends' personal driver for three days?".

"deal" he spat on his hand as annabelle looked in disgust.

"dont do that. it's disgusting" she mumbled as the doorbell rang. she ignored it, making dustin go and answer to be met with the face of billy.

"your boyfriend's here" dustin announced, letting him in before sitting back down. "cereal?" he offered to which billy declined. "your loss" he whispered, stuffing his mouth again.

"what brings you to our humble abode, hargrove?" annabelle questioned.

"i was bored and wanted to hangout with my favourite person" he mumbled, smiling sheepishly.

"gosh, you make me blush" dustin mocked earning glares from both teens. "geez, it was only a joke. when you're done making out give yourselves some time to find a sense of humour" he yelled as he walked off into his room.

"what do you want?" she announced as billy sighed.

"i didn't fuck carol, or anything like that before you even accuse me. when you left with steve i got jealous and asked her to dance. she tried it on with me while dancing and i told her about us which resulted in carol throwing up on me and we figured from that she wasn't fit to walk and tommy and i carried her home because stranger danger and hawkins and we wanted to make sure she was safe" he spoke all in one breath.

"i knew you wouldn't cheat, i just didn't trust her that much, that's all" she mumbled, hugginh him. pullinh away, she saw billy eating a spoonful of her breakfast. "asshole" she uttered, earning a wink.
