Bittersweet Notions Of Forever
Chapter 94
Skipping Stones
"We need to talk." Wonho said. His voice was a clear tone. His eyes drifted to yours.
Instinctively, at his unexpected words, you felt your body stiffen in the seat. More so, you were taken back at that unfamiliar look on his face.
It was a look, which you hadn't seen on his face before, a look that told you he had something to share.
Something that may be hard to hear, but you know it is needed. You gulped hard, feeling the guts in your stomach turn.
He had such a deep and thoughtful look. His eyes seemed to have a different gleam in them. However, within those chestnut colored deep brown eyes of his, was a hidden and buried pain that caused your heart to wrench.
Inside your chest, you felt a sudden tug. You clutched your fists. Held in the emotions. You had to keep your chin up. You took in a deep breath and met his deep eyes.
"You are right. I think it's about time we really talk." You said.
Looking into those hauntingly sad eyes that tried to cover the truth, just made you want to punch something. Wonho looked like a hurt puppy that had been left on the street alone. He nodded with pursed lips.
This was a different Wonho in front of you. A side to him that you didn't know existed until recently. He allowed himself to become vulnerable in front of you now, finally.
Quite frankly, you had your doubts, whenever you saw and heard strangers call him out for being adopted, not being a real son to the Lee's, you had seen him brush it off easily.
But deep down you had always wondered about whether he took those words to heart, or if he just pretended to not care. No one can just ignore the mean comments and not get effected by words. Words can hurt.
Each person carries a story and has their inner battles, that is why you should always treat everyone with respect. You wished the world would work this way.
There was a moment of silence in which you let yourself get indulged in as your mind started to become fogged with all the things that you had been told recently.
You couldn't bring yourself to begin, knowing his side of the story must be different and hurtful too. You had already heard of Soo Hyuk's story and then his mother's painful story afterwards, told by her.
Amid your train of thoughts, Wonho reached his hand out, opened the door, and stepped out of your car. You looked out and saw him lean against the closed door.
You lowered your eyes to your lap. You blinked your eyes multiple times. There was a throbbing feeling within your chest.
You gulped hard. Felt a tear drop trail down your cheek. You quickly rubbed it away. You had to get out to him.
Grabbing onto the door handle, you opened the door. The fresh breeze swayed into the car. But you froze for a second. Today, your brother-in-law, and friend needed you.
You needed to hear his side of the story and had to be there for him. Hence, you stepped out of the car.
Briefly, your eyes drifted up to the dark skies that covered the sight of the moon. The streetlamps were turned on, casting light upon you in this dark street.
