The truth behind

         you told me
         you were rooting for me
         so i strived to success
         only to find out that
         my parents told
         you to do that
        
         you told me
         that i am beautiful
         but i didn't believe you
         because it pinned my mind
         that my parentd told you
         to tell me that
        
         you told me
         that you like me
         and that you wanted to court me
         but then again,
         i believe that my parents told you that
         to make me believe in lies
         from the person i like
        
         you told me
         that you wanted to court me
         but i answered 'no'
         for the thought that i still believed in
         And the thought of my parents
         told you to tell me that
        
         you asked me why
         but i never told you
         but i really did
         i told myself
         that this is my answer
         that i once experienced this
        
         they manipulated people
         they manipulated my friends
         they manipulated my first love
         they manipulated everyone around us
         even me—
         they manipulated me
         for the cause of their popularity
