MARRY YOUR DAUGHTER

i first heard you
at the window across our house
you were using your saxophone
in playing a particular melody

i stared at you
not knowing that you knew
and with that we both laughed
as the silly thought we had

you then smiled
your white teeth showed up
in that perfect smile of yours
i felt my heart beat much more

we started to talk
while in our pj's across each other's windows
took till dawn
yet we still weren't finished

nights passed
and it became our routine
to talk yonder dawn
and sleep within noon

you'd always sing
that particular song
play that particular melody
and feel that particular lyric

of which made me fall
for not minding to whom you were singing it to
and took the risk
even if i might bleed

you opened up a particular topic
in which you mentioned a particular girl
and startled me
when i knew whom it was you said

— my sister, right?
