The drive to my mums house was only about twenty minutes, giving me and Aston enough time to talk about the wedding. Although I said we should wait a year to get married, talking about the plans is actually getting me quite excited for our big day surprisingly.
Arriving at my parents' house we got out of Astons car before he locked it and we walked up to the front door to ring the door bell, waiting for someone to answer.
"Merry Christmas darling!" My dad grinned as he opened the front door fully before pulling me into a hug.
"Merry Christmas Dad." I giggled as he released me and closed the door behind Aston.
"Ah Aston, it's a pleasure to see you again son," Dad smiled, holding his hand out to which Aston shook. "Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas Dave, has it been a busy morning?" Aston asked politely as I took his right hand in mine to hide my ring.
"With no kids? You're joking! I've been able to hear myself think," Dad laughed before leading us into the living room where my mum was sat.
"Mandy, Lucy's here with Aston."
"Oh Aston hi!" Mum grinned as she got up off the couch and I rolled my eyes. "How are you? Merry Christmas!" She added before pulling him into a hug, where he just kissed her cheek out of politeness.
"Merry Christmas." Aston replied, taking my hand again, lets just say he's not my mums biggest fan.
"How've you been?"
"I've been great, with the help of this one." He smiled as he looked down at me, squeezing my hand as I smiled back at him.
"Oh yes, Merry Christmas Lucy."
"Merry Chr-"
"So what've you been up to since the last time I saw you, Aston? Gosh it's been about six months!" Mum asked, cutting across me as she took Astons arm and dragged him over to the couch.
"Mum I-"
"Not now Lucy, I'm speaking to Aston." Mum sighed as Aston shuffled over on the couch and pulled at my hand, hinting for me to sit next to him.
"No." I whispered as I shook my head, trying to pull my hand from his.
"It's okay." He mouthed with a smile before tugging at my hand again so I had no other choice but to sit next to him.
"So Aston, you were telling us about what you've been doing." Mum smiled annoyingly as I spotted my Dad sitting on his chair at the opposite end of the couch.
"I've been fairly busy, you know in the studio and everything. Plus, me and Luce bought our house, we moved in, then I've been touring and doing a bit of TV stuff while Luce was in Paris." Aston smiled as he looked back at me quickly.
"I remember," Mum said as I smiled at her, thinking that she knew about my show. "We watched you on the X Factor! Didn't we Dave?"
"Oh." I mumbled as Aston squeezed my hand again.
"Yeah, it was great son."
"It wasn't my best performance, I was too focused on Luce." Aston said, trying to get a reaction out of my parents.
"She was fine in Paris love." Mum tutted as Aston shook his head.
"It wasn't a matter of whether she was fine in Paris or not!"
"Babe-" I whispered, resting my hand on his thigh.
"No, Luce this has gone on long enough."
"Aston, what ever are you going on about?"
"Luce had a fashion show in Paris when I was on the X Factor and you've not even acknowledged it."
"We've acknowledged it." Dad said gruffly as my mum tutted.
"And what? That's it? You're not even proud of her? Your daughter headlined a fashion show in Paris." Aston said as he looked from my dad to my mum.
"Yes Aston we know." Mum sighed, changing the channel on the TV.
"She headlined a show in Paris. Not London, not Blackpool, not Scotland; Paris, the fashion capital of the world. That's pretty big."
"Son we know all about the show."
"And you don't even care?"
"You want to talk about caring? If this was such a big deal for Lucy then why weren't you there, hm?" Mum asked as Aston squeezed my hand tight as I could tell he was getting annoyed.
"I tried to be there for her, which is more than what can be said for you two." He said through gritted teeth.
"Ast, stop," I said quietly, shaking my head at him when he looked at me with pleading eyes. "It's not worth it." I sighed before moving off into the kitchen.
I knew my mum and dad didn't like my career but it still hurts that they're not even supportive, or proud even. And bless Aston, he was so annoyed and he was trying to talk some sense into them but it was no good. I've tried it all before and it's never worked so it's not going to work now. As I had a minute in the kitchen I could hear all three of them arguing in the living room, this wasn't how I wanted my Christmas to be.
"Will you all just stop?!" I more or less demanded as I stormed back into the living room where they all stopped talking. "It's Christmas for crying out loud."
"Lucy-" My mum started.
"No Mum, you guys hate my career and I, well if I'm being honest I don't understand why, but it's the fact that you're not even supportive, or proud! Headlining a London and Paris fashion show is a massive deal, especially to me and you can't even be proud of me for one little thing." I said as I held back my tears.
"Sweetheart it's not that we're not proud of you-"
"Well are you?"
"We're proud of the woman you've become."
"Just not what I've done." I sighed as a tear slipped down my face.
"Babe," Aston sighed, coming to stand at my side before pressing a kiss against my forehead. "Don't get upset."
"Ast I get that you're trying to help, I really do, and it's so sweet. But it's pointless, they're never gonna change their minds."
"I'm sorry." He frowned as I shook my head before quickly pressing my lips against his.
"Don't be..You know what, me and Aston got engaged this morning," I told the two of them as their eyes widened when Aston held out my hand.
"Lucy,"
"Darling,"
"But I don't want either of you at the wedding unless you're willing to accept my career and be the tiniest bit supportive."
