After a gruelling three days in that hospital we were finally allowed to take our girls home. We endlessly thanked the staff who took care of us on our way out because they were absolutely brilliant; you couldn't fault them one bit.

Once the girls were strapped into their car seats, which had their names on (totally Asts idea, we had three made because we couldn't decide on the names so looks like we'll have to donate the Alexis one to charity), we made sure they were secure in the car before setting off back to our house. I couldn't wait to be back in my own bed, don't get me wrong the beds at the hospital were comfy but you just get used to your own bed don't you? As soon as we pulled up, me and Ast grabbed a bag and a car seat each, locked the car and then headed for the front door.

"Here you go girls, your brand new home." Aston said cheerily as I put Sophia's car seat on the floor whilst he locked the door behind us.

"They're well away, should we put them to bed?" I asked, dropping the bag on my shoulder onto the floor.

"Yeah, it's about time their cots were used," He smiled, copying me before bending down to unclip Ava out of her seat, me doing the same. "Let's go gorgeous."

We took the girls upstairs into their nursery before carefully laying them in their individual cot, making sure that they were safe with the blanket and whatnot.

"I can't believe how much I love them." Aston sighed happily, reaching into Sophia's cot and gently running his hand over her head.

"I know, it's crazy." I smiled, closing the curtains and flicking on the starry night light that reflects onto the ceiling.

"It just feels like I've known them forever rather than two days."

"An exhausting few days." I sighed, fixing my ponytail the best that I could.

"Luce why don't you get some sleep?"

"Are you sure?" I asked as he left the girls to go and grab a baby monitor and turning them on.

"Yeah you need it, plus the nurse did say that whenever the twins were sleeping you should be sleeping," Aston said, passing me one of the monitors. "Go on, I'm staying in here with them for a little while anyway so go get your head down."

"Are you gonna be okay?" I asked as he pressed a kiss against my head.

"They're asleep, I'm sure we'll be fine." He chuckled as I smiled before turning around and heading down to our bedroom to take a nap.

Astons P.O.V.

After I sent Luce away to go and get some well needed sleep I turned my attention back to my girls. I stood there for a little while at the end of their cots, just watching them, watching their little chests rise up and down slowly, listening to the little snores, watching them fidget as they slept.

I can't put into words how utterly beautiful Sophia and Ava are, it's hard to believe they're even my daughters. They're just so precious and so small, it's so weird that they depend on us for absolutely everything, but it's also kinda cool. I'm still a little freaked out about being a Dad but I'll get over it, I think I just need a few more days to get used to this whole thing. Plus it's not like I'm a new dad with just one baby, there's two of them.

Normal View

I woke up about three hours after I went for my nap and I actually felt so much better. I hopped into the shower once I was out of bed before changing into some clothes that were much more comfortable. I was about to head downstairs when I looked into the nursery and spotted Aston fast asleep on the two-seater sofa that we'd put in there, with the baby monitor right by his head.

In that moment I felt so awful. He'd been making me go to sleep every time that the girls were asleep and then he'd see to them whenever they woke up, he's practically been doing everything and it's totally worn him out.

After his freak out at the hospital once the twins were born he seemed to just connect with them on a new level. I actually expected him to freak out, I was waiting for him to do it at some point during the pregnancy. I wasn't expecting it in a bad way, I just know that Ast's the type of person who cares about others way too much and he puts his heart into absolutely everything. But that's exactly what's going to be make him a great dad.
