Tamaki's pov

I ducked down behind a rock, clutching onto my chest which felt like it was barely containing my beating heart. I looked down at the devices attached to my costume. Two of them were glowing. I fiddled with my staff, biting my lip. I quickly looked over the rock I hid behind then quickly ducked when I saw people approaching. I could jump them. I snuck around them but my plan fell apart when someone had come up behind me.
"Found ya" they smirked. In panic and reflex, I hit him with my staff while activating my quirk which electrocuted him. He fell back, smoke rising from his body. I quickly used the balls I'd been given to gain a point and that got me into the final round. I cautiously walked into the waiting room.
"Tamaki. You got through" Shoto smiled, meeting me in there. I bit my lip.
"Told you that you'd do well" he pointed out, nudging me. I nodded slightly. It wasn't long before it was time for the second round. Once the round started, I began to look for people to help although I couldn't ignore the nasty thoughts at the back of my head. I shook my head, trying to get rid of them but it didn't work. I got so caught up in my own head that I didn't notice the slope down, tripping up and tumbling down.
"Miss. Help!" someone called. I looked up from my place in the dirt where I saw one of the instructors under some debris. Instead of moving to help though, I froze. I felt my heart beat faster than it should and I was finding it hard to breathe. The only thing that actually got me out of it was when the announcer said that the event was over and it was time to find out the results. I hung my head low, knowing that I would not pass but I still hoped. The names showed up on the board and of course my name wasn't up there. I couldn't handle the crushing feeling that was weighing on my shoulders and bolted, locking myself up in one of the unisex bathrooms. I didn't have my blades with me but I wish that I had brought them. I looked at my arm for a second before slamming it against the sink repeatedly to try and drown out everything in my head. After a few turns of doing this, I felt something scrape my arm. I looked at my arm which had a long cut on it that had blood pooling out. I looked at the sink which was now cracked and chipped from the repeated abuse. I was going to reach out for one of the sharp bits that had come loose when the door was knocked.
I froze.
"Tamaki?" he asked.
"Go away" I hissed.
"Please calm down. Your not alone here" he comforted.
"No. You don't understand" I snapped, tangling my fingers in my hair.
"Maybe you should take your medication, you sound like your about to have a panic attack" he offered.
"The medication doesn't work! It never has!" I yelled, kicking the wall as hard as I possibly could. He was quite for a second.
"We should go, everyone will be getting ready to leave" he advised at last. I hesitated before pulling down my sleeve to hide the large cut on my arm. I unlocked the door and walked out, heading to where we got the bus. Shoto walked alongside me, looking over at me on occasion. I tried my best to ignore him. I needed to be alone. When we got back to the dorms, I went straight to my room, locking the door behind me so Shoto wouldn't come in uninvited. I knew what I needed to do now.
