Tamaki's pov

I slipped on my hoodie, wiping my cheek at the bits of hair and fluff that came off after I pulled it over my head. I'd been told that I was allowed to leave the hospital now. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I picked up the bag that has my stuff in it, sitting it next to me while I waited for someone to come. I wasn't allowed to leave until someone signed me out. I stared at the floor, fiddling with a strand of hair when the door opened. Who had arrived surprised me.
"Yamada?" I asked.
"Spot on listener" he smiled, his voice booming in the small room.
"Why are you here?" I ask.
"Well, Shota is busy teaching and I don't have a class right now so I offered to come get ya. You have the day off too" he explained. I nodded, slipping my back onto my shoulders and walking over to him. He turned and opened the door. I kept my hands shoved in the pockets of my trousers the entire way th through the corridor until we got to the elevator. The trip down to the ground floor was quiet which was shocking. From what I know of Yamada, he's usually always talking or being loud. The complete opposite of dad. When we reached the ground floor, we had to go to the pharmacy since the doctor had prescribed me with more medication. Not like they'll do anything. I can't even take them on my own anyway. I was brought out to a car, the small bag with the small bag being placed in the bag seat. I got into the passanger seat, fastening my seatbelt after sitting down and closing the door. Yamada's hair was pushed down by the roof of the car, looking flatter now that it didn't have all the space it usually did to stick up in the air. He started the car and we were in silence. I fiddled with my hands.
"Something bothering you kiddo?" he asks, voice muted slightly and a serious look on his face. I bit my lip.
"I'm...... Well..... You and dad...." I trailed off, pulling on one finger.
"Oh. Yeah. That's a thing" he Mumbles, one finger tapping on the steering wheel. I turned my gaze to the window, watching some of the cars pass by.
"Guess you aren't used to having so many people in your life huh" he states after a minute. I nod.
"Makes sense. You don't remember anything about Amano do you?" he asks. I look down at my lap.
"No. Dad says I remind him of her but how can I be anything like her. From what I heard, she was a great hero who always did her best to make those around her smile. I only seem to make everyone sad" I sigh, slumping in the car seat.
"That's not what Shota means" Yamada tells me. I look up at him, he's looking out the windshield, watching the red light.
"Then what does he mean?" I ask, confused. He sighs.
"I knew Amano just as long as Shota did. We met her not long... Not long after Oboro died" he starts.
"That's the guy in some of those photos that dad has. The one with the whitish blue hair and the smile right?"
"Yeah. He passed away when we were in our second year at U.A" he sighs. This clearly hurt him. He starts the car again when the light turns green.
"Shota was devistated. He was there when it happened and I guess he blamed himself for being unable to save Oboro. That's when we met Amano. At the time, she was living alone other than her brother since her parents had died" he explains.
"I still don't understand" I mumble, fiddling with the bottom of my hoodie.
"Your mother, no matter how much she smiled and how many times she pretended that everything was fine, she was still hurting. She was working hard to support herself and her brother as well as pass courses and tests in school. She hid away the pain andd exhaustion so she wouldn't have to worry others because she didn't want people to waste time on what she thought was nothing but minor inconveniences" he explained. I looked at him.
"That's what Shota means. He sees her in you because no matter how much you think your different. You both have something in common. You didn't want people getting involved in your issues and so you both pretended that everything was fine and in your case, pushed people away so they wouldn't be hurt in the long run" he explains. I fix my gaze on my knees.
"Mum.... Was like that?" I ask. He smiles slightly.
"I can see where Shota is coming from but... I'd say you take after your father a lot more. Sometimes I wonder if you're the same person. And that's saying something cause I've known you since you were just a kid. In fact, I remember how happy Shota was to show you off to everyone after you got out of hospital due to an early birth. He was so proud of you. Both of them were. Saying you were going to be an amazing hero one day. The first time he brought you into the school, you were about 7 months old. All the staff were marvelling over you throughout their lunch break. It was one of the few times Shota smiled around other people" he smiled, clearly remembering that memory fondly. I looked at my hands.
"Guess I didn't live up to either of their expectations" I sighed.
"I'm not hearing this. Shota has told me that he doesn't care if you don't become the kind of hero Amano and him expected. He doesn't care if your number 1 or number 100. He's just glad that you're still here. Right now, all that man wants is to see you grow up to be the kind of person you want to be. Not what anyone else wants you to be. He just wants to see you happy" he objected, placing one finger against my chest. I look up at Yamada.
"Thanks. You'll make a great dad to all of us" I thank. He smiles, placing his free hand on my head and ruffling my hair.
"I'm looking forward to it. You and your mystifying siblings are great kids. I can see why Shota cares for all of you so dearly" he laughs. I just nod. This was something I needed.
