all four of us stood in the middle of the woods, looking around cautiously at our surroundings for any walkers or people. it was a nice day today, the wind blew gently and the sun shined nicer than last week considering our conditions then.daryl comes back around from the side of the decrepit house, "i don't see it—but it's close, there's just one of em." he warns me, carol, and rick simply, and i nodded. "we won't be here long." rick assures us, "so what do you think?"
"we can go in when it's empty." carol speaks up, cocking her head to the side. "well how's that? it's locked up at night." rick questions with curiousity, stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets.
"the window—it's just a latch, i can leave it open." she explains, and i look to rick on what his opinion on this was. sure this community was nice, but the way they go around with no protection, it's gonna blow up in their face sooner or later. "a latch?"
"yeah."
"well what if one of them pricks shuts it?" daryl queries.
"yeah." i agree, "couldn't someone just simply shut it? especially since it's an armory?"
"wait a couple of days—leave it open again." a walker snarling in the close distance distracted our conversation, "it's gettin' closer."
"we need to do it sooner or later, right now they're not watching us—not worrying about meetings like this. we may need the guns—we may not." rick explains in a authoritative tone. and carol nods, "we will, whatever way it goes."
"they're the luckiest damn people i ever met, and they just keep gettin' luckier."
"how's that?"
"we're here now." rick replies simply with a shrug of his shoulders. that's all he needed to say for us to understand what he meant. these people look weak, they got lucky to have these walls and us to save them from the outside.
"they've got a couple of footlockers just full of nine millimeter autos, rugers, kel-tecs just tossed in there—they don't use em', they're never gonna know they're gone."
"someone's got one now—right?" daryl asked rhetorically, motioning to the hidden gun in a blender. "listen, the others—we want them to try."
"you too." carol adds, nodding her head at daryl, he doesn't answer. "so we keep it quiet—just us." rick continues, the snarling of a walker got louder suddenly, "here it comes."
