screams and cries of the alexandrians were horrifying, i tried my best to help save them but it was hard, i had to stay out of sight so i wouldn't get caught. my heart was racing with adrenaline and i felt like panicking, but i've come way too far to do that now.

i have to keep my cool and rescue lola, because i still remember what i told rick before he left, "okay, but just know protecting the kids is my main concern."

as the shouting and crying went on through this community of immense chaos, i ducked behind a green bush that was in front of this house with brick outerior. i slowed down my breaths as i sat in the dry soil, making sure to keep myself hidden behind the thick bush of leaves.

this was real, and actually happening, this community is getting attacked—and the others aren't here to help, a loud horn was out blaring either inside or outside the walls, it was hard to tell. i took my green beanie out of my back pocket and slumped it securely over the top of my head, hell, maybe it could give me some coverage, i don't know.

the slow and calming breaths i was taking continued as i remained hidden behind a random bush, i've been here for about two minutes, readying myself, this was gonna be challenging—and i felt nauseous.

to make it over to my house i have to cross the open road or an intersection, where these intruders could see me and possibly try to kill me. i've observed them in my time behind this bush, they seem to only have melee weapons and no firearms, i just can't let them get too close, and i have to suck up the nauseating feeling.

taking one last deep breath, i finally jump up and run between the brick house and another with my head down low towards the backyards, my finger just above the trigger in case it's needed. i jumped a couple of the neighbors' backyards to make it down the street, my palms were red and aching from the sharp wood on top of the fences.

after a short couple of minutes i managed to make it to the end of the street, where one of the intersections were. my heart was hurting, i felt as if i were gonna puke, i didn't know if it were from nervousness or something else. it was gonna take a lot to do this, even if i die, i know lola and i would've known that i died trying, and that's all that i'd need.

i took in one deep breath, and bolted for it. i ran across the street as fast as i could with my head down low, as i looked around i saw two of the intruders coming straight for me with their bloody weapons, mouths wide open screaming a war cry. there was no hesitation as i lifted my gun and fired at the two crazies.

i managed to get them both with three to four single rounds for each of them, when they fell onto the street i showed no attention and kept running across. successfully i made it to the other side, i just had to hop a couple more fences and soon i'd be in my own backyard.

as i was about to hop into another backyard i heard a blood-curdling scream come from the same one, when i lifted myself over the edge what i saw was one of the intruders ram his foot into this young girl's chest, causing her to hit the ground hard.

he shadowed over her and lifted his sword, the teen girl screamed in fear of what was about to happen and that's when i reacted. a clean shot to the brain is what that guy got from me. luckily, his dead body tilted to her right instead of on top of her. the girls breathing was heavy, and quick, i could tell she was traumatized. soon it settled in that someone had shot him, and looked in my direction. a tear rolled down her face as fear was shown in her light brown eyes, "t-thank you."

i nod as i climb over her fence and into her backyard. the girl got up on her own, and blood covered her arm, i could see the deep knife cut from where it all came from. i quickly analyze the intruder i just saw, and saw a 'w' in-caved into his forehead.

my blood ran cold, just like when we were having that secret meeting before the party, we saw that walker with the same letter on his forehead. this is some kind of group, great, another one of them. i sigh with my strained breathing and stand up straight, drawing my attention towards the girl. "go inside and lock your doors, take any weapon you have in the house and go hide somewhere. these people don't have firearms, only melee's."

she nods in understanding, "thank you again." then proceeds to run back into her house, locking the back door behind her. it felt good that i saved someone from these people, now all i need is to get my daughter, so, i continued to climb the fences of these backyards. the calluses on my palms were beat red, i was sweating profusely, nauseated and fatigued. but anything to get to her, anything to get to lola.

soon i reached my own backyard, it was sort of hard to recognize in this town of utopia that had the same everything, but i saw a familiar baby toy sitting on the grass. i run towards the backdoor and open it—the door wasn't locked, is she okay? scared for her, i shout her name in distress around the bottom floor of the house, it looked untouched. while making my way towards the stairs, that's when i heard running footsteps coming down.

i don't raise my gun, i knew that if it were one of the intruders then they'd have melee weapons and no guns. my heart hurt with relief when i saw it was lola at the second flight of stairs. her hair was all over the place, she was shaking with fear as she held her small gun in her hands.

"mom." she sighs in relief, flying down the steps and engulfing me into a tight hug. i chuckle, planting a small kiss on her forehead, seeing that she was safe and not hurt was the best thing i could ever experience after being scared for her.

as we pull away she started rambling, "i'm sorry i didn't lock the back door i just got so scared that one of them were gonna be near it and try and get me so i just got my gun and ran into my closet and hid because i didn't know what to do on anything so i'm sorry i didn't mean to panic—"

i cut her off with a gentle shush, shaking my head, "it's okay, you're alive, so are carl and judith. they're at carol's house and he has his gun, they're alright, i'm sure of it."

lola nods with a smile, about to reply when a loud bang comes from the front door. me and lola both jumped as we drew our attention towards the noise, there was a shadow of a man that i could see through the stained glass, one of the intruders i obviously assume, started ramming his body into our front door—trying to bust it open. shit.
