“What are you looking at?” Faith frowned and crossed her arms on her chest as if to protect herself, “Have you never seen a girl before?”
“I have, but none as weird looking as you.” Liam replied, turning away and grabbing a magazine.
“I know you’re lying.” Faith smiled and wiggled her eyebrows, “Look at those cheeks of yours.” She burst out laughing.
Liam looked at her irritated, and tried to wipe off whatever was there. “What is it?”
“You’re blushing! Your cheeks are as red as tomatoes!” She couldn’t stop laughing.
“You were blushing too. When you saw me when I was…you know.” Liam smirked, now that things were in his favor. “I know I’m hot. Not your fault.”
“So full of yourself, aren’t you? I was blushing because it was awkward!” Faith turned around just to hide her face. She was smiling like an insane person. He sure was hot.
The whole evening went by in trivial, meaningless arguments, fighting over the remote, mocking each other’s looks; even though they both knew that the other was extremely good looking. When it was time for bed, Faith placed a pillow neatly on the couch. She climbed onto it, lied down, pulled the covers over herself and tried to go to sleep. She tried her best to adjust, but she couldn’t. She stole a glance at Liam. He was sleeping comfortably, all his limbs spread in different directions, and his head was tucked under a pillow. For a wealthy businessman, the guy sure lacked class when it came to sleeping positions.
“Liam?” Faith called out, “Are you awake?”
“No.”
She rolled her eyes and said in the cutest way possible. “I can’t sleep here. I keep feeling like I’m about to fall off the edge of the couch. It’s so narrow Liam.” She hesitated a bit, and then spoke. “Can I sleep on the bed?”
“Can’t you see it’s occupied?” He spoke in a muffed voice from beneath the pillow.
“I mean, with you.” She closed her eyes and bit her lips in embarrassment as she awaited his answer.
“You’re a pest aren’t you?” he sighed. “You dare not cross over to my side.” He placed a pillow in the centre of the bed.
“Of course not.” Faith got up from the couch and jumped onto the bed. As she did so, the pillow was displaced and flew off onto the ground. “How soft is this bed exactly?” Faith squealed, “I just bounced off!”
“Do you want me to fucking bounce you off Paris too?” Liam said, irked. He hated it when things were misplaced.
“I have no intention of crossing your stupid borderline.” Faith stuck out her tongue at Liam.
“Do you know I haven’t talked this much in like seven years? I’ll go insane if I stay with you.”
“Well, this whole marriage thing wasn’t my idea. Good night!” Faith slipped under the blanket and drifted off to sleep in a few minutes.
Eventually, Liam adjusted somehow and slept crawled up in the limited space Faith had spared him. When he couldn’t take it anymore, he suddenly sat up and started screaming.
“I can’t sleep like this! I need more room!”
Surprisingly, Faith didn’t budge.
“Wake up Faith! Wake. Up!”
Still no movement. Liam hated the idea that he was going to have to do what he had to in order to get some sleep, but he had no other choice. He walked to Faith’s side of the bed and lifted her up. She still didn’t move a bit.
“What kind of a heavy sleeper are you?” Liam stared at her in disgust. He climbed onto the bed with the help of his knees. “And surprisingly light. Do you even eat?” He kept on speaking like he had gone mad.
Liam lied down with Faith still in his arms, and when he was relatively comfortable, he let go of her and she rolled off of him. Liam was now in the center of the bed, and Faith was on one side in a freaky fetal position. Liam looked her in the face and whispered as softly as he could, “I win!”
Faith woke up. Lifting her up and unnecessary blabbering did not disturb her a bit but when Liam whispered, Faith woke up. “You’re a freak you know that?” Liam said, horrified when she suddenly opened her eyes.
Faith kept staring at him and suddenly sat up. There was no expression on her face. She blankly just stared at him.
“Okay, you’re really freaking me out now. Say something.” Liam was almost convinced that Faith had been possessed.
“I’m gonna kill you. I’ll bleed you to death.” Faith narrowed her eyes and moved her hands in a strange way. Liam pulled his blanket to his face. He almost fell off the bed. “What the hell? I’m gonna call security.”
“I’ll kill you!” Faith screamed and started to move to and fro. Liam was on the verge of having a heart attack, when Faith suddenly bumped into a wall and fell down. For a few moments, there was no noise, no movement.
Liam sat there, looking pathetic. His forehead was covered in sweat beads, his blanket was in his mouth and he was occupying only one tiny corner of the massive King sized bed. The part of him that got scared easily came out in full display! When she didn’t move for a few minutes, he gathered the courage and moved towards the edge of the bed. Faith sat up and he jumped in his place again.
She looked around, confused. “Was I sleepwalking again?”
