It was five past eleven at night. Faith and Liam were in their room, full after a delicious platter. Both of them were too tired, and they both went to bed without fighting or pulling each others’ hair out. But Faith suddenly remembered something and her eyes popped open. She suppressed a giggle and took a look at Liam, who was setting an alarm on his phone. She removed the covers and sat up on the bed, deliberately making a sound so she could have his attention. Liam turned his head and looked at her.
She stood up, and made sharp neck movements as she bobbed her head from side to side. “Tonight, I’ll surely kill you.”
Liam dropped his phone and went down the edge of the bed. “Faith! Wake up!” he said, horrified. “Wake up, please!”
“I’ll rip your limbs out of your body.” She started to take baby steps towards him. She found it really hard to control her laughter but somehow she did it.
Liam, meanwhile, secretly grabbed the plates from under the nightstand. He mentally prepared himself for the attack. He stood up too, nervous and sweaty, with the plates hidden behind him in his hands. Faith was now in front of him, doing her neck movements, which she thought were scary. They were actually pretty stupid, but good enough to scare Liam.
“I’m sorry Faith.” He said genuinely. She wondered why he said that, but she held her blank expression.
Bang!
“Oh my God oh my Go…” She fell on the ground. She opened her eyes and gave him a deathly glare. “You…” She grinded her teeth.
“Are you awake? I’m sorry… I had no other option.”
“LIAMMM!” She yelled and hit him continuously.
“What the hell?”
“I was awake all this while you idiot! I was just playing with you. And now I have a bump on my head.” She cried, running her hand over her head.
Liam’s expression changed from that of pity to that of rage. He stood up and cursed her. “Then you deserve it.” He said and marched back to the bed. Like a kid, he thumped into his bed, gave her an angry look and lied down on the bed.
“You’re just gonna leave me here?” Faith made an expression of disbelief.
“What do you think?” he frowned. “You know how scared I was last time. But still…never mind. I don’t even want to talk to you.”
“I was only having some fun!” she giggled, lifting herself off of the floor. “I’m sorry!”
“You’re sorry? Huh! You’re sorry?” He made a sarcastic face.
“Okay, what do I have to do in order to earn your forgiveness?” She almost kicked herself at how stupid it sounded.
“You’d do anything I say?” His eyes lit up and a smirk formed on his lips, his dimples in full display now.
“Uh-huh.” Faith shifted in her seat, looking at his dimples.
“Tell me your most embarrassing secret.” His grin was even wider now. He looked like he had just been voted the president.
“Hey! That’s not for you to know!” She retorted.
“Okay then, don’t talk to me.” His smile was gone now, and he slid beneath the blanket and covered his head.
“Ugh! Fine.” She pulled him back up. “But if you tell anybody, your secret will be out too.”
“Fine. Go ahead.”
“When I was ten…” She closed her eyes and let out a sigh. “Please, I’ll do anything but not this.”
“The clock’s ticking…” He raised his eyebrows and shook his head.
“Okay listen.” She pinched his arm, and earned herself one in return. “It was my best friend’s birthday party. It was a normal party. But somebody told me that it was a costume party. So when I turned up at the venue, I saw that everybody was wearing perfectly normal party dresses… and me…” She stopped and pouted. “Please Liam.”
“Are you going to tell me or what?” He widened his eyes and threw up his arms in the air.
“I went as Bambi.” She covered her face with both her hands and shoved her head down into the blanket.
“You what? You went as Bambi?” His eyes were glittering with amusement. “Who dresses up like Bambi?” he laughed.
“What was I supposed to do?!” Her voice was muffed by the thick blanket. “And considering that I was only ten, Bambi was a rather cute costume idea.”
Liam was rolling on the bed with laughter. He could not stop. He just couldn’t. “Hey Bambi, get me a glass of water! My stomach hurts.” He said, holding his tummy.
“I knew it! I knew you’d call me Bambi!” Faith cried, “Please don’t.”
“Okay fine, as you wish. My sweet Bambi!” He doubled up on his bed and rolled from side to side, laughing hysterically.
She decided that it was no good to persuade him, so she went to sleep. Halfway through the night, Liam abruptly woke up and grumbled. He wasn’t fully awake, but he looked around and saw Faith sleeping peacefully. He didn’t realize what he was doing, as he pulled her closer. She made soft noises but didn’t wake up. He put his arm around her waist and pulled her into a tight hug. Faith reciprocated even in her sleep. Her hands moved up his chest and grabbed his t-shirt softly. Her other hand went behind him from under his arm and without even knowing it, she was hugging him back.
