It's me again God,
"I will exalt you, my God the King;
I will praise your name for ever and ever.
Every day I will praise you
and extol your name for ever and ever."
Psalms 145:1-2 NIVI echo David's desire to praise You this morning! In fact I praise You with all that is in me and I can picture myself doing this forever!
"Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.
One generation commends your works to another;
they tell of your mighty acts.
They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
They tell of the power of your awesome works—
and I will proclaim your great deeds.
They celebrate your abundant goodness
and joyfully sing of your righteousness."
Psalms 145:3-7 NIVThis next part of Psalm 145 makes me think about going along to church. For years I have stood there singing with a whole room full of people who are also praising You for Your unfathomable greatness! Church is a place where there is one testimony after another, where one generation after another tells and proclaims all You have done —recommending a life lived in close proximity to You. Thank You for all who have been integral in bearing witness to me over the years. I pray that I would continue the work of telling others of Your power to redeem as I join with others each week to celebrate You! Your attributes are amazing:
"The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
The Lord is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.
All your works praise you, Lord;
your faithful people extol you.
They tell of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might,
so that all people may know of your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom."
Psalms 145:8-12 NIVEven if I failed to tell people about You, Your other works of creation would! Thank You for Your love, compassion and grace! You show Your goodness to all! How wonderful it is to be part of Your Kingdom that endures through all generations!
"Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.
The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time.
You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing."
Psalms 145:13-16 NIVThank You for all Your promises which are yes and amen in Jesus! You are so faithful and lift me up whenever I fall. Thank You for being the Provider to all. It's so true that everyone looks to You for their food, even if they don't openly acknowledge it. In times of drought, they surely realise there is One who they need to turn to. I pray that right now in my country, where drought is devastating the inland regions, that many will turn their lives over to acknowledging You as their Lord. May they know:
"The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and faithful in all he does.
The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.
The Lord watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy."
Psalms 145:17-20 NIVThank You for this time in the Psalms today. It is so special to be able to pray along with David who lived so many generations ago! I can declare as he does:
"My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.
Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever."
Psalms 145:21 NIVAmen.
