It's me again God,
Watching the plants in my garden struggle in the drought is very sad indeed! They are reliant on someone having time to splash some water on them during the restricted watering hours. How much better would they be if they were planted by a stream of water, so their roots could search and find a continuous supply!
I love this Psalm Lord, because it reminds me that I need to be careful about where I am planted:
"Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers."
Psalms 1:1-3 NIVLord I cherish these special times with You and need them so much! I love to meditate on Your Word and what You are saying to me! It guides me toward the way I need to live in order to bear fruit:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23 NIVMay these fruits be increasingly evident in my life as I am nourished each day while I meet for this quiet time of reflection. Lord it can be hard at times to walk on paths that you set out for me and it's easy to find myself walking in step with the rest of the world. However, You have set me apart for service and it's my desire for my life to be marked with Your righteousness, so that I may bring glory to You!
"The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming,
"The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock,
and there is no wickedness in him.""
Psalms 92:12-15 NIVI choose to be planted in Your house, part of a local fellowship of believers. I am so thankful for the good teaching, fellowship and opportunity to worship You. This is where I will flourish and continue to bear fruit, even as I grow old. Lord, with You living in me, I am blessed and stay fresh and green, as I always depend on You —my Rock!
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.
