It's me again God,
There are many different sources I could turn to at the start of this day but there truly is none like You! I am often tempted to check the news, social media or my emails or messages, but this is the time of the day when I want to acknowledge You first and foremost. I quickly get distracted once I leave my room so right now my thoughts centre on You:
"You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love to all who call to you.
Hear my prayer, Lord;
listen to my cry for mercy.
When I am in distress,
I call to you, because you answer me.
Among the gods there is none like you, Lord;
no deeds can compare with yours.
All the nations you have made
will come and worship before you, Lord;
they will bring glory to your name.
For you are great and do marvelous deeds;
you alone are God."
Psalms 86:5-10 NIV
I join with the Psalmist and praise You for Your goodness and mercy. It is so good to start the day knowing You have forgiven all my sins. Thank You for Your love that sent Your own Son to the cross, so I could spend eternity with You. Thank You too for listening to me and eagerly attending to all my needs. I know I can rely on You in all situations and bring before you all my current concerns ......................................
"Teach me your way, Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God,
with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever.
For great is your love toward me;
you have delivered me from the depths,
from the realm of the dead."
Psalms 86:11-13 NIV
Lord I desire to walk in Your ways and to know what it's like to have an 'undivided heart'. I am sorry for the times when other things have taken the place that only rightfully belongs to You. Help me to appreciate the beauty of the things of this world and the precious people in my life, without giving them the love and place of honour that is only Yours.
"But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."
Psalms 86:15 NIV
I am so thankful for Your compassion and grace, love and faithfulness. I choose to serve only You today and lift up Your Name for You are my God! There is none like You!
I will glorify Your Name forever,
Amen.
