Maxine's POV

The Next Day

My entire body ached. That was the first thing that hit me. My body ached. My body was cold, thankfully I didn't have to go to school.

I thought back to yesterday, Cheryl and I kissed...I somewhat regretted it because I didn't want to cheat on Josie, she was a good girl.

I opened my eyes and I was confused to see that I was in my room. I turned my head to see Josie was sound asleep beside me.

But she went home?

"Why are you looking at me?" She mumbled tiredly, her eyes still closed.

"I'm...I'm just confused."

"About what baby?" She asked opening one eye.

"I thought you went home after you brought Cheryl and I back here?"

"Mmm mmm." She shook her head. "As soon as Penelope opened the door, you pretty much passed out."

So yesterday...Kissing Cheryl, her saying she had feelings for me...Was a dream? I was relieved I hadn't cheated on Josie but I was disappointed that I hadn't really kissed Cheryl.

Josie moved closer to me and lifted my arm up so she could wrap it around herself. She rested her head on my chest and I gently stroked her bare arm.

"Why did you stay?"

"Because I was worried about you. Honestly, I was surprised when Cheryl said I could stay."

"Do you think she hates me?"

"No, I don't think she does." Josie replied quickly. "Hey um, I'm gonna go now, okay? I got some music I gotta practice."

I sat up and turned my head to look at the clock on the bedside table. "It's seven. Why don't you stay an hour or so? At least stay for breakfast."

"Can't." She replied throwing the covers off her body and jumping out of bed. "Songs ain't gonna write themselves."

"Josie, what's wrong?"

The way her mood changed when I asked if Cheryl hated me, slightly worried me. Was she hiding something? Something wasn't right. She didn't answer as she continued to gather her things and get dressed. She quickly brought her hand to her face and wiped her cheek, she was crying.

I removed the covers from my body and weakly got out of bed and walked towards her. She was about to put her jacket on but I stopped her.

"Josie, talk to me."

I gently cupped her face and used my thumb to wipe her cheek. She sucked her bottom lip as she looked down.

"I like you. A lot, Max and I'm just worried about a couple of things. That's all."

"What are you worried about?"

She placed her hands on my shoulders and kissed me. My hands moved to her waist as we continued to kiss. She pulled away before it could get too heated, she gently nudged my forhead with hers as she moved her hands to my neck.

"Whatever happens, please...Don't hate me."

"Josie..."

"Max please." She said quickly. "I need you to not hate me."

"Why would I hate you?"

She was about to speak again when her phone began to ring. She sighed and pulled it out of her pocket. I sat on the bed as she answered.

"Hello? Yes, this is Josie McCoy. Don't worry about it." She laughed lightly. "Oh, really? Oh that's great. Thank you, I'll be there right away. Thank you so much. Goodbye."

I tilted my head to the side as she hung up the phone. Her eyes were wide and she had the biggest smile on her face. She let out a little squeal as she began to do a little happy dance.

"Who was that?"

"That was Seth Ward. He is a music producer that my Dad is friends with. He's heard some of my songs and he's here in Riverdale and he wants me to perform a few songs for him."

I stood up, a smile as big as hers was on my face now too. I wrapped my arms around her, giving her a tight hug.

"That's great!"

"Yeah! My dreams are possibly coming true. This is the closest I've gotten and it's only taken me...One hundred and fifty six years."

I kissed the top of her head and she once again, let out a small squeal.

"Okay, I gotta go. But, I'll see you later, right?"

"Yes." I nodded my head. "Good luck."

"Thank you." She said before pecking my lips and then literally running out of the door.

I smiled as I watched her leave. I was happy for her, I really hoped that everything would go well for her.

Just as I was about to climb back into bed, Cheryl appeared in the doorway.

"Hey."

"Hi."

"Breakfast will be ready in ten minutes. I know, it's early on a weekend but Mother wants to talk to us."

"About what?"

Cheryl sighed and looked down. "About what happened yesterday."

This should be fun.
