Cheryl's POV
I stared the broken pieces of Maxine's phone that I had spread out across my dresser. Tears slowly rolled down my cheeks, over and over as I just stared at the broken phone.
She's been missing for three days. Nobody has heard from her, sure you could blame it on her having no phone but surely she'd have money for a payphone or maybe she went to see an old friend or family member?
If she was to tell anyone where she was and if she was okay, then it'd be Betty or even Alice but nobody has heard from her. No texts, no phone calls, not even a glance through a window. It was like she had vanished into thin air.
A gentle knocking on my door tore my attention away from the phone. My Mother was standing there, two cups in her hand.
"May I come in?"
I nodded my head and she slowly walked into my bedroom, handing me a cup as she sat on my bed. I took a sip of the hot tea before placing it down carefully beside the broken phone.
"You know, I'm sure she's fine...It wouldn't be the first time she's just left."
"But she didn't just leave did she? I pushed her away. I told her to leave...With you, she left because she was protecting you. Because she loved you. Me? She doesn't love me...She didn't leave to protect me."
Mother sighed and placed her cup next to mine before grabbing my hands. I grew confused when I saw her eyes fill with tears.
"I am growing awfully tired of this Cheryl." She said shaking her head. "You are as blind as I was."
"What are you talking about?"
"I didn't see it at first. Alice was the one to point it out that Maxine felt something for me, of course I didn't believe her until the Fall dance...But enough of that what I'm trying to say is, Maxine does love you. She even told you to think about it, so think."
I scrunched my eyebrows up in confusion as I began to think. Then it started to click.
The countless nights she held me. Even when I had been a bitch to her.
The small touches.
Our almost kisses, I didn't think she noticed but she clearly did.
Twice she has saved me...
The things she had done, friends wouldn't do...Not my friends anyway..
Mother's smile grew as I began to realise she was right. Maxine loved me. The girl I was in love with, she loved me back.
"I need to find her, I need to tell her how I feel." I said quickly as I stood up.
Mother stood up too and she wiped her eyes.
"Good. Do not let her go so easily like I did. I didn't even try looking for her or even tried contacting her...I just let her go."
I took my Mother by surprise as I hugged her. I smiled as she hugged me back, giving me one of those Motherly hugs that I had gone without for so long.
"I'll find her, for the both of us."

Betty's POV.
Jughead, Veronica, Archie and I were going through every phonebook we could find, trying to get any ideas of where Maxine could have gone.
Jughead was growing fustrated as he threw a book against the wall.
"I'm fucking telling you, she didn't leave, something happened to her, I can feel it."
"Jug." I sighed and rubbed his back. "You gotta remember, it's not the first time she just left. Remember? She left our parents too without saying a word. She didn't want to be found then and she doesn't want to be found now.
