Maxine's POV

Everything was set. I looked around at the set up, nodding my head in approval. I looked up and was welcomed into a motherly hug.

"I'm so happy for you, Darlin'. Your Mum and Dad would be so proud."

"Proud that I allowed myself to fall for a human, again?" I chuckled pulling away from the hug. "Speaking of, I better go get her. Thank you so much for helping me, Hilda."

"No need to thank me. You're family."

"I'm not."

"You may not be family by blood, but you're still family."

"Thanks."

I gave Hilda a quick hug before walking to Thistle House.

Hilda was a long time friend of the family, along with her sister Zelda. Our families have known eachother for centuries, before I got turned into a vampire, her and Zelda would take care of me while my parents were out hunting. Feasting. I would always wonder why I couldn't join them but Hilda would tell me stories, distracting me from what my parents were doing.

You probably wonder how I could possibly have known Hilda and Zelda for centuries, they're witches. Along with their niece, Sabrina...Well, she's half witch, but she'll have the chance to become a full witch if she wishes.

I finally made it back to Thistle House. I could probably enter but part of me didn't want to upset Penelope.

I let out a nervous sigh before knocking on the door, smoothing down my outfit as I did so.

Cheryl opened the door and my jaw dropped.

She was dressed in a knee length, red dress that hugged her body perfectly. Her hair was straight which I wasn't entirely used to, having seen her most of the time with her hair curled.

"Wow." She said looking me up and down, impressed.

I stood up straight as I felt more confident, that was until she grabbed my tie and straightened it.

"Sorry, it was bugging me."

I just laughed and held my hand out. "Shall we?"

She rolled her eyes at how formal I was being but she took my hand and I led her to where our date would be held.

She gripped my hand tighter the further we walked. We were walking away from the town and into the darkness of the woods.

"Where are you taking me?"

"You'll see." I replied, giving her hand a reasuring squeeze.

We soon entered a clearing in the woods and Cheryl gasped. Hilda had rearranged some things and it looked better than before.

There was poles that had fairy lights connecting to eachother. A table in the middle with a fancy candle in the middle. A bottle of wine in a bucket of ice beside it.

"How? Why? Huh?" Cheryl was rather confused as I led her towards the table. I pulled her chair out for her and said thank you as she sat down.

"I wanted us to have a special first date but nothing classical like dinner and a movie or a fancy restaurant or a picnic..But then I thought, you can't beat the classic stuff so, I combined them. We have the outdoors. Picnic. This fancy set up. Fancy restaurant...As for the movie, well...That comes later."

I sat in front of her, taking her hand in mine, watching her looking around in amazement...My heart just swelled with love.

"Now, I have no idea what food we're having so...I apologise if it's something you don't like." I said nervously.
