Maxine's POV
I pulled Josie up by her hair and dragged her out of the tunnel and out into the open. I pushed her away and just stared at her. She just kept her head down, not trying to explain herself.
"Do you have any, fucking idea how much danger you put me in?!" I asked angrily. She tried to stand up but I pushed her back down. "ANSWER ME, JOSIE."
"I-I-I'm sorry."
"You're sorry? You're sorry?! Is that it?! No explanation?! Nothing?! You are a fucking werewolf. One bite and I would've been dead."
"I'm sorry."
"No. No." I shook my head as I began to pace back and forth. "I don't think you are sorry."
"I am!" She said looking up at me, tears quickly rolling down her cheeks. "I wanted to tell you.."
"SO WHY DIDN'T YOU?!"
"I was scared! I like you a lot Maxine and I didn't wanna lose you."
I let out a deep sigh and crouched down. "You wouldn't have lost me. I don't care that you're a wolf but you lied to me and you almost killed me. That is why I am so angry with you." I gently touched her face and turned it to the side, her head still bleeding slightly from when I whacked her with the brick. "Come on." I helped her up and removed my T-shirt and jacket. "Put these on so you're somewhat decent."
Once she put my shirt and jacket on, I bent down in front of her.
"What are you doing?" She asked confused.
"Getting us to Thistle House quicker." I said looking over my shoulder. "Come on."
She jumped on my back and I used my vampire speed to get us back to Thistle House. Once we arrived, I practically nearly collapased on the ground.
"What the hell happened?!" Penelope asked running downstairs as she tied her robe.
I used the wall to keep my balance as Penelope checked on Josie and then me.
"Do you wanna tell her or shall I?" I asked.
Josie sighed and looked down. "I'm not a vampire, I'm a wolf."
"You lying bitch."
I looked up to see Cheryl storming down the stairs. Once she reached the bottom, she slapped Josie across the face.
"How could you lie about something like that to Maxine? Your girlfriend?! God, she deserves better than you."
"Cheryl!"
"What?" She asked looking at me. "You do, deserve someone who won't lie to you, who will love you for who you are, treat you right..."
"Well. At least I'll have something good to say." Josie said wincing as she touched her head. "I know I said I didn't wanna lose you but I mostly meant as a friend...Maxine, I think it's best if we break up."
"What?" I asked hurt. "Josie, come on. I know I was angry but we can work through this." I said walking towards her and cupping her face. "Please, don't do this."
She smiled at me and placed her hand over mine. "I got the gig. Seth liked my music...But he wants me in New York and it's not fair for us. We live pretty much forever and I don't wanna tie you down and hold you back from doing things you wanna do. I'm just sorry we ended on a kinda bad note."
I rested my forhead against hers as the tears began to fall from my cheeks. Sure, I had been questioning some things but it still hurt being broken up with and I did still like her.
She moved my hands and then wrapped her arms around my neck as she gave me one last, sweet, tender kiss.
As we kissed, my heart began to hurt more. I didn't want this to end. I didn't want us to end, but she was right, it wasn't fair.
I broke the kiss and she wiped my tears away.
"When do you leave?"
"Tomorrow."
Tomorrow? That was so soon. I lowered my head, resting it on her shoulder.
"Even more good news is, I told Veronica, Betty, Jughead and the others and...They're throwing me a leaving party, along with a celebration for getting the gig. You wanna come?"
I turned to look at Cheryl and Josie laughed. "Cheryl can come too."
I nodded my head slowly and hugged Josie again. Party time tonight but I was still hurt.
I was hurt that Josie had lied to me.
I was hurt that Josie was leaving.
I was hurt that Josie had broken up with me.I was just hurting a lot...I just hope tonight would cheer me up...Or maybe it'd make me feel worse. I just really hope that I don't have to deal with anymore hurt but knowing my luck, I was going to be hurting a lot more.
