The two boys were completely frozen. The words still rang through the quiet forest, the wind being the background noise as it danced through the leaves of the trees surrounding the three figures. The woman, his mother, truly looked proud. That proud look on her face almost made Ikaku puke. Even if that woman was his mother, unlike her he would never harm a Vampire as he was friend with some - in love with one even - and if anything she was the monster. She never realized her child, the one she adopted, was also a creature like the ones she hunted.
This forest was known for one thing : the way you came in was the only way out. And the woman stood exactly on the path her son took, trapping him in along with his soulmate. It was a problem, they knew they couldn't get past her. That was unless Ikaku decided to comply with his mother's "request" which was an impossible task. Yet, it was the only way to make her move or so he thought. There was another path which lead to the main one close to where they stood, if they wanted a way out they would have to run in hopes of loosing her. Ikaku never said a word, he made his decision quietly and went for it.
He walked towards his mother, ignoring the distressed sound of his soulmate and the gleeful giggling of his mother. The Human took the wooden stake, turned around almost flinching when he saw his soulmate shake, eyes screaming at his betrayal. The golden haired boy only made a sign for his soulmate to run, just so they could pretend Ikaku was obeying his mother. Then they'll find the other path and run back to the city. Leaving her alone in the forest, waiting for someone who won't come back.
The moment Ikaku made the sign, he almost missed his Soulmate run out. Silly him, he forgot how fast Vampires were. Before his mother could say anything, he ran as well. He didn't hope to catch up, unless Ayumu stopped, after all he was only human. Luckily for him, the white haired vampire didn't go too far. He was able to find the other path quite easily. Unfortunately for him, Ayumu still looked wary, eyes still focused on the wooden stake in his hand. Which he threw away when he saw the look in the vampire's eyes. The Human knew that the Vampire trusted him, it never left his mind that his family killed his soulmate's family. He understood the fear.
They stood there for a moment, not quite touching the other but close enough to feel at ease. Again, the wind was their only witness, the light sound of leaves surrounding them being rocked by said wind. The warm light of the sun finding it's way through, the soft caress of the slightly cold wind on their skin. They almost wanted to stay there but they knew it was a matter of time before the woman comes looking for them and demand proof of the kill.
They also knew they couldn't run at the same pace. It would be too uncomfortable, the white haired vampire may have short legs but he could run way faster than Ikaku could ever run, even with his long legs. They shared a soft kiss, a promise to see the other soon before they took off. The Vampire was soon out of sight while the blond was trying to run as fast as he could. They had spent a lot of time away from the other after all.
Ikaku soon found the entrence, well exit, of the forest and was blinded by the sunlight as he ran out. When his eyes were adjusted to the light, he froze. His father was there, along with two other Hunters, wooden stakes in hands. Ikaku was only able to meet the shaking back of his soulmate before he saw the cruel smile on his father's face.
Cruel smile which oddly reminded him of the proud look on his mother's face. Truly his family - could he even call them that - was out of their mind. It might have been his fault, after all he never said a word about his Soulmate. Love is love. No matter what his Soulmate was, he loves him all the same. Something his parents would never understand. Ikaku almost felt bad when he saw the smile on his father's face slip when he hugged Ayumu's back.
"Funny seeing you there father, I just met mother in the forest. Did you need something ?"
