Kayline McKenzieKayline sits in her truck, parked at her house. She must've been to every single missing persons house over the last few weeks. She glances at the names in the paper one more time. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. Nada.
Kayline lays her head against her car headrest and closes her eyes. One more guys remains on her list. A guy about 23 named, Micheal Alberston went missing a month ago. Maybe she can interview his parents. Pretend to be an old friend whose worried about him being gone so long. Great Plan.
She'll play the worried little blonde girl who can't get a grip. Maybe get a hint or a clue to where he is. Let's just pray that something will come out of it.
Before Kayline starts up the engine, the passenger door opens and Noah slips in. Kayline widens her eyes and opens her mouth to protest, but Noah beats her to it.
" Before you say no, it's too late. I'm in the car. I have my seatbelt on, and I am not moving." Kayline opens her mouth again, but Noah cuts in.
" One thing I've learned about you, is that you don't answer questions. So I'm going to go wherever you are going without asking any questions. I promise." Kayline arches her eyebrows. She keeps her mouth shut because most likely, Noah will keep interrupting her. She looks forward and gives him the silent treatment. Noah sighs.
" Look, I know you are not a doctor. You don't have any books in your house or scrubs anywhere, plus you have a bunch of weapons and notes." Um, what?
Kayline swings her head back around to him. So much for the silent treatment. He closes his eyes, as if he just spilled his secret.
" You looked around my house?!" Kayline screams at him.
" Yes, Okay. I did-" now it was her turn to interrupt him.
" No. No, okay! You don't walk around someone's house! Especially if you barely know them!" Noah knows that she isn't a doctor and that she is... oh no this has gone all wrong. She guessed she underestimated him. But he is in danger. If The Boss finds out he knows about Dark Moon Academy, she'll slit his throat.
" Oh come on, I know all about you since I saw you those first few minutes." He said, quoting her from the morning he barged into her house. She glares at him and he smirks at her. She has to get this job done. Even if it is with pretty boy or not.
She turns on the engine and backs out of the parking space. Noah leans back with a triumphant smile. Kayline leaves him her deadly stare and they drive off in silence.
