The Doctor is in
Kayline McKenzieThey all run down the hallway, hoping to reach the Doctor before the Queen. Whenever they come across security, they act casual by either joining in someone's group for a few seconds or make their own. They finally hike up the stairs to Hall B. Kayline cracks the door open and sees Doctor Suchun pacing. No sign of anyone else in the room. Kayline doesn't close the door in fear of Suchun hearing it.
" Okay, Noah you are going to stand guard, make sure no one fro the academy is coming." Kayline whispers.
" How will I know what they will look like?" Noah asks.
" You'll know." Chris says as she pats him in the pecs. Noah looks confused and cover his chest with his arms. Chris opens the door and they walk in.
" Oh, sorry, young ladies. You've got the wrong room." Suchun says absentmindedly. Kayline sees the Doctor and she is more beautiful than Kayline made out to be. Her back hair in neatly pulled back except for a few hair strands shaping her jawline.
" I'm sorry, Doctor Suchun Wu, but we are here on behalf of the Queen." Chris says all business. Suchun arches her eyebrows, revealing more wrinkles around her eyes and nose. Kayline could tell she wasn't as stupid as Tim was.
" I thought she was meeting with me." Her voice stubborn and strong.
" Oh she is, but we are just the security. We are here to make sure that no one has eyes or ears in this room before Her Majesty comes. I'm sure you understand the security measures." Kayline says as she walks around the room, pretending to debug it. While Kayline looks at a lamp, she says to the doctor,
" While I'm making sure everything is clear, I'm going to need a copy of everything you have about his case. Her Majesty will like your professional view on this and it will be handy to have every piece of information at a hands reach." Kayline puts the lamp down and continues on to the book shelves.
Kayline acts confident. They live in a world where everything is just an act. So, if she acts confident, she'll become confident. She pushes her feelings of agitation and anxiety behind 'her wall', where they will stay. Kayline can already feel her chest hollow and empty.
A few seconds of silence pass between them. Suchun seems a little suspicious, but that's a given. After a sigh, the doctor opens a cabinet. She pulls out the files, sets them down on the table and slides them over to Chris, the sound cutting through the silence. Chris picks up the files and rummages through the papers.
" That is everything we have based on the few samples we have from the local hospitals. I couldn't say which plague we might be dealing with. We have bits and pieces from every victim. We've got Bubonic symptoms, pneumonic symptoms and septicemic symptoms. They all have different traits and some of the unloving ones and a case of all three.
If you read my entire document, you will see how each one of the plagues is spread. Bubonic plague could be from our animals in the farm district, but it doesn't make sense because we live over 500 miles away from the farms. It could also be septicemic, because someone could have brought it with them from the farm district, and the way septicemic is spread is through inhaling infected moisture such as sneezing or coughing. Or it could be Pneumonic, which is also known as The Black Death. Which is spread from person to person from contact and from inhaling infected coughs and sneezes or it enters into their bloodstream." Doctor Suchun tells the girls in a rehearsed voice.
" Yes, thank you Doctor, we all know how it works. Now what are you mostly going to discuss with the Queen? Because clearly she doesn't need a biology lesson." Chris says impatiently. The Doctor clears her throat either because of the lack of respect or because she is getting nervous.
"I don't know if we can keep it contained, and that's one of the topics The Queen and I will be discussing, is if we should quarantine the entire city or not.
Also, before I forget, we haven't found a cure, not by a long shot, however, there are treatments for each sickness. If one symptom outweighs another, we could try giving them medicine for it, but so far our tests end up... not working." The Doctor says. Chris gives Kayline a small nod of her head, suggesting that the papers are legitimate.
Chris closed the case file and puts her hands behind her back.
" Well, thank you for your time Doctor. We will make sure that Queen gets your research and we wish you the best of luck finding a cure." Kayline gives Suchun a thumbs up, letting her know that the room is secure.
" Wait!" Suchun tells before they make it to the door.
" Would you like me to say anything to Queen for you? You know some sort of report?" Chris looks to Kayline. Kayline slowly looks back at the Doctor. She already has a back plan.
" Tell Her Majesty that Sierra has got everything covered for her. If she needs anything, she may contact me directly. Also, Doctor, we ran into your assistant earlier, is he supposed to be apart of this meeting?" Kayline asks her.
" He's not my assistant, he's my partner, but he is. Why?" Suchun asks with her chin up.
" We ran into him on the dance floor and discovered that he had a bug on him. Now, we don't know if he is an enemy or just a victim in the enemies plans. We knocked him out and he is in Room 64 on Floor A. Just thought we'd let you know." Kayline says.
Doctor Wu looks confused but she thanks them anyways, so they walk out the door. Noah comes to Kayline's side.
" How did it go, Princess?" He asks.
" Not well. We already knew everything that she said. This keeps getting worse and worse." Kayline look deeper through the file. Just more research about plagues and where they could have been distributed.
Based on what Kayline saw in the cave, people could have been kidnapped and tested on. But that would be too risky. The enemy would have found a more natural way to hide this man made disease. I find a newspaper clip cut out and stapled to a sheet of diagnostic illnesses and medicines.
The front shows some symptoms shown by homeless people, but I flip the newspaper article and it says something about The Movaria Kingdom.
Something about rumors of the princes holding some sort of convention of princesses for an arranged marriage. How dare they throw war at us, and then casually pull a stunt like this. They must think really high of themselves.
Movaria could be apart of this. They could be giving us unfair war. They could be behind this, and there is no way that I'm going to let them win.
Thank you for you time, advice, and interest and I hope you continue to read my story!!♥︎♥︎
