Losing the Other Half
Christina McKenzie

       " Hit me." Kay says.

      So Chris does.

She admits, she feels bad. She just punched her own sister. But Kayline brought it upon herself. Going dark and not telling Chris! What was she thinking? Chris wanted to punch her again, but she let out enough anger for today.

" Chris, really? Come on." Noah tells her. She shakes her knuckles as they sting. But Chris didn't hit Kay hard enough. Her skin didn't break. Chris exhales a shaky breath through her nose. Kay had no right to not tell Chris what her plan was all along. Chris had the right to say goodbye the right way.

" Good punch. Now save it for the field, so you don't hurt anybody else." She snaps at Chris before she runs up th stairs. Chris let out a sigh.

" Hey, you okay?" Noah asks Chris. She shakes her head. She turn to Randy. She need to do something anything.

" Randy, is there a tracker that we can place on Kayline? One that she won't notice, and no one else can hack it?" Chris asks. Randy starts to shake his head but then grabs something out of his bag.

" The purpose of this isn't used for a tracker, but if you let me tweak it, I can be done in less than an hour. Oh also Her Majesty just contacted me. She said that costume and makeup should be here in 30 minutes or less." Chris nods and starts to head upstairs. Noah grabs Chris' arm and pulls her close.

" Hey, are you okay?" He asks. She shakes her arm loose.

" I already told you no. What do you think I would've said, Noah? Yes? I'm fine. My sister is heading into enemy territory all by herself for who knows how long with no way to contact us. I'm fine. I'm not worried that she will probably die! Die." Chris says again softly. Noah brings Chris closer and holds her. She's not a crier. She doesn't usually cry and she doesn't. She just stand there, letting Noah express her feelings. Which, besides Kay, no one has ever done. And she's grateful for that.

For the next few hours, they help Tracy pack up everything for their move to Landow. Carrying boxes and cleaning helped Chris clear her head, let her calm down. The agency eventually came to take Tracy's furniture.

They told Chris that Kay and her have to be back at the agency tomorrow. All she knows is that Kay isn't going to be here. Chris can't cover for her. She would be ruled as a traitor. Chris stomach flares with anxiety. Kay is alone.

Chris found her on the roof, and they said their goodbyes. Now, Chris is standing in the driveway, leaning on the truck, watching her sister pull out of the cul de sac.

Chris looks at the ground, rocking her heels back and forth. What is she supposed to say? What is she supposed to do? Chris needs to think but she can't. Chris can feel the tears slowly creeping to her eyelids but she pushes them back. Her head starts pound. She can't do this without Kay. She's the smart one. Chris is the punching awesome one. Chris could see Noah looking at her with concern. Chris clears her throat and gets out of her haze.

" Alright let's go. It's a 7 hour drive, so better get started." Chris tries to get out with her voice breaking up. Chris flips a piece of hair out of her face and opens the car door. Noah nods and takes the steering wheel. Chris is in the back and Tracy is in the passenger seat. They start to make their way down the road. In the week that Chris has been in Caper, it's starting to grow on her. The simplicity of it all. Chris looks at the window and sees down town. It look so different with all of the decorations down. However, it still seems unique.
