Kayline McKenzieThe sun shines through Kayline's balcony. It rests on her face, causing her to stir and finally wake up. She must've slept deep last night, she feels like she just went to bed. She sits up and rubs her face. Her clock reads 7:30.
Now she's just confused, her body is trained to get up at 5:30. But she can tell it's grateful for the break.
Kayline pulls the covers over to the side and walks barefoot downstairs to make some breakfast. Her feet react to cold tile. Her nerves shot up, reacting to the cold. Her body shivers and she brushes it off. She sees different colors from her peripheral vision, and turns to see the sunrise.
The sun is on the other side of the apartment, giving the sky a pink and purple color on this side. The colors make the buildings in the city seem soft and simple. Kayline couldn't help but smile. Oh, but the simple things in life, that bring out the complicated, she recites in her head. That quote was one Kayline's favorite from her studies. Mainly because it's the truth. Whenever she catches a glimpse of simplicity, chaos chooses to throw it out.
By the time her chamomile tea was done, she takes off her eggs off the pan and her breakfast was ready. Her stomach growls for the food, but before she could even stab her fork into the eggs, the doorbell rings. She groan and hops of her stool. What cruel, conceded, jerk would be up at 7:00 and knock on someone's door?
As soon as she opens the door, she sees Noah's hazel eyes and she groans even more. So that's who. Kayline tries to close the door in his face but he places his hand on the edge.
" Nice try, Princess." Noah smirks, humor showing in his eyes. Kayline rolls her eyes and simply walks away, knowing that he will follow her in anyway. How can she already hate someone and only meeting them for one night? And that doesn't even count that one night at the capital!
Noah closes the door behind him and looks around. Kayline can tell by the way his eyebrows lift slightly and his eyes narrow, that he likes it, but there is something off.
" Everything alright?" Kayline asks, dropping annoyance in her voice, knowing that he heard it. He focuses his attention back on Kayline. He nods his head.
" Yup. Everything... is just dandy." Kayline gives him a look telling him that I don't believe it, and continues to eat her eggs. Noah walks over and takes some of her eggs. Kayline opens her mouth and moves her hands around.
" Hey, those are my-" she stars to complain
" So what are we doing today?" Noah asks. Kayline is still chewing her eggs when she looks at Noah like he lost his marble.
" Excuse me?" Her mouth still full of food.
" Well I know for one thing, you are not a doctor." He replies.
" Really? You only saw me for one night. Which happens to be the capital and where the greatest doctoral college is." Kayline throws back.
" You were running with someone." Noah tosses back.
" Well, yeah, I'm a Doctor. Exercise is important." Kayline stabs her eggs again, not facing Noah.
" However, doctors spend every second of every day either in their study books or the office. They never have time for anything. And when they do, trust me, they don't go for a run." Noah raises and drops his eyebrows. Kayline just stares at him with a disappointed look on her face. Like a mom does when their child returns home with a bad grade.
