Waiting for the Right Moment
Kayline McKenzieThe house feels empty now. All of their research is gone. The kitchen is unbeliveabley spotless. They took Magdalene with them. All that was left was a small blood trail, from Edna when she was dragged away.
Kayline lets out a breath she didn't realize she was holding in. Her face still burns from the slap and her cut on her arm aches from the fight. As Kayline exhales, she collapses on a bar stool, suddenly drained from everything. Chris kneels down in front of Kayline.
" They had no right. You worked so hard for this and you risked everything." Chris says angrily. Kayline looks up and sees Noah marches towards the door. What's his problem? Kayline asked herself. Kayline stands up immediately, and runs to catch up to him. Noah slams the door in her face. She grunts and swings the door open and follows him. He is already halfway down the street, getting close to his car, when Kayline gets outside.
" Um, where do you think you're going?" Kaylne shouts across the street.
" Where do you think? I've cost you guys the mission, and probably your entire career. She had no right to disrespect you like that, and it's my fault!" Noah yells back. Kayline groans and stares at the sky. The one boy she meets, and apparently he is impossible. She didn't know if that was a pro or a con.
" You think we are giving up?" Kayline asks. Noah stops in his tracks. He swings his head back at Kayline. She raises her eyebrows.
" If you think I ever give up, then you don't know me at all." Kayline says. She makes her way back to the house and she hears Noah's steps behind her.
" Such a drama queen." Kayline says under her breath, but just loud enough for him to hear it.
" Spoiled princess." He sways back at her. They walk back into the house and they we catch Christina looking through some bags.
" What's that, Chris?" Kayline asks. " I thought extraction team took everything." Chris shakes her head.
" They had no reason to take these." Chris pulls out two dresses. The anniversary ball! Kayline rushes towards Chris and grabs the dresses.
" We can still do this. We can grab information from the doctor. No one will suspect anything because it's just a ball." Chris says. A plan starts to unravel in Kayline's head. Bits and pieces come into place.
" Chris. We think the Movaria is behind this, right?" Kayline asks. She nods her head, but her eyes reveal a question.
" So, what do we do, when we need to find out the facts?" Kayline smiles and Chris smirks.
" We do what we do best." They do our little handshake. It's about 10 in the morning. That means they have 8 hours before the ball starts. Perfect. Chris starts to go upstairs and brings out Kayline's computer.
" Am I the only one still confused here?" Noah says as he waves his arms. Kayline throws Noah his tux.
" Get ready, pretty boy. We have a ball to crash." Kayline says.
