The table round
Kayline McKenzieNoah and Kayline sit around the loft, pacing back and forth with anxiety haunting the room. Kayline chews on her nails, expecting Chris to walk in any time soon. Kayline still hasn't told her about Noah yet.
Kayline keeps running scenarios through her head of how it will all go down. Chris ends up killing Noah, and then never leaving Kayline's side. Kayline takes in a big breath. Noah stops pacing and sits by her.
" Kay, you alright?" Noah asks her cautiously. Noah hasn't said anything to her since she told him that she was a spy. Kayline of course understood. You think you know someone until you figure out that they are a spy and assassin. But Kayline had a feeling that Noah already knew.
Kayline gives Noah an exasperated look. He seriously asked the spy, who was trained to put her emotions somewhere else, how she was?
" Am I alright? You're the one whose sister just got kidnapped!" Kayline says as she lays her forehead in her hands. Noah shrugs his shoulders, but then looks at Kayline.
" Well, you're the one who just gave away her secret identity, her secret mission, and pretty much just got her death wish signed, sealed and delivered with some academy, for helping us." His voice get quiet. Kayline sits up straighter and leans in closer, making sure that she had Noah's attention. Her anxiety settles down as she realizes that Noah doesn't think that it's her fault.
" You're not mad?" Kayline asks.
" Of course not. This was not your fault. Yes my sister got kidnapped, but managed to grab the enemy. And I already kind of new about the spy stuff. However, if my mom finds out, I don't how she is going to take it. She has had a lot of trust issues lately." Kayline nods her head in understanding.
" Noah, I-" Before Kayline could say anything else, the door swings right open and Kayline's dear, sweet Chris waltz right in. When she sees Kayline, her face lights up. They run to each other and give the other a bear hug. They laugh and Chris wipes off a tear. The little amount of emotion suprised Kayline, and she smiles in return.
" Kay, it's been almost 2 months since I last saw you. Ugh, it was torture without you." Chris exaggerates. Kayline laughs and gives her another hug, but then she feels her sister go still. Oh boy, she probably sees Noah. Chris pulls Kayline away from their embrace and Kayline backs up towards Noah, for Kayline's safety and for Noah's.
" Um, who's this?" Chris says with a little distaste in her tone.
" Chris," Kayline says slowly, making her know that Noah knows Chris' real name and Kayline, " this is Noah. He's my friend... sorta." Kayline tries to explain.
" Yeah. 'Cause that clears everything up!" Chris snaps. Kayline raises her hands to calm Chris down.
" You can't trust him! He's the guy from the capital! The one we saw before our run home!" Chris whispers yet somehow manages to yell to Kayline at the same time.
" Oh, so you remember me?" Noah says slyly. Kayline isn't looking at him, but she could tell that he is smirking.
