On the lead up to Founder's Day, the area outside Mystic Falls High School was currently decorated with tables and banners as a group of the town residents were gathered. "Welcome, everybody," Matt began to address the crowd as he stepped up to the podium, capturing everyone's attention as they all turned to look at him.

"As part of our ramp-up to Founder's Day, our high school students have followed up on a local legend about a time capsule buried in 1790. With the help of our historical society, they went digging for treasure," the sheriff stated with a smile. "And this is what they found," Matt announced before walking over to a table and pulling off the red cloth, revealing a large wooden box.

The gathered residents began to applaud at the sight at what had been found as Matt walked back over to the podium. "Left behind by the first settlers, it hasn't been opened until now," the blonde man stated with a smile as the historians opened up the crate and began to look through the items. Matt looked over the uncovered items before spotting Caroline across the lot, digging by a tree.

The sheriff smiled as he walked over, causing Caroline to smile as she caught sight of him. "Hey. You okay? You looked kinda shaky up there," the blonde commented worriedly with a concerned look on her face as Matt nodded and crouched beside her. "Yeah, this morning's been a real mess," the human admitted as Caroline listened intently.

"I got called into a fight at a coffee shop, these two guys almost killed each other," Matt revealed as Caroline frowned deeply at his words. "I feel like Mystic Falls isn't as safe as it used to be," Thea commented as she walked over to join the pair, dressed in a long red coat with a steaming hot cup of coffee in her hand.

Matt smiled as he looked up towards the newcomer, "tell me about it," the man commented just as Thea frowned, staring at Caroline weirdly as she was still sat on the floor. "Why are you playing with dirt?" the hybrid asked bluntly before taking a sip of her drink as Caroline rolled her eyes, holding the box she held in her hand up towards the brunette so she could get a better look.

Thea gasped, almost dropping her coffee as she crouched down next to Matt and Caroline staring at the box before looking back at Caroline with a large smile. "Is that what I think it is?" the hybrid asked with joy as Caroline nodded her head eagerly with a large smile. Matt stared between the two girls in confusion, utterly baffled by why they were so happy over a dirty box.

"Ancient Tupperware?" the human offered causing both Thea and Caroline to roll their eyes, but the smiles on their faces never left. Caroline chuckled as she began to stand, Thea and Matt following suit, "Elena, Bonnie, T and I made our own time capsule when we were 11 and buried it right here under this tree," the blonde told Matt, pointing to the blossom tree they were stood under.
