Morning had ascended on the streets of the French Quarter, breathing a new breath of life into all if its inhabitants; completely unaware of the grievous events that had taken place the night before. The Mikaelson Compound laid silent, an eery feeling encompassing it as if it were waiting for something big to happen.
And then, as if by magic, a loud gasp pierced through the silence.
Klaus Mikaelson shot awake, his blue eyes wide as he ran his gaze frantically over his surroundings, panting heavily as he attempted to regain his breath. The hybrid furrowed his brows as he realised he was laid in his and Thea's room back at the Compound, trying to piece together what happened when Thea suddenly entered the room.
"Oh my god," the brunette gasped in shock, smiling widely as she hurried over to the bed, throwing her arms around her husband as she placed her lips on his instantly. Despite being slightly startled by her presence, Klaus instantly melted into the kiss, wrapping his arms around her as he held her tightly in his arms; afraid to let her go.
As they pulled away, Thea rested her forehead against his, breathing him in as she savoured the feeling of having him near her once again. "Is this what peace feels like?" Klaus questioned; his tearful eyes trained on Thea's as he held her close.
Thea smiled in amusement at his words as she pulled away from him to sit in front of him instead. "Peace? My darling, with all the shit you've done, you're definitely going the other way," the brunette retorted in a teasing manner, a smirk on her lips as Klaus furrowed his brows in response.
Upon noticing Klaus' frown, Thea's smile broadened as she picked up one of his hands, holding it in her lap as she twisted the golden band on his ring finger. "We're not dead, Nik," Thea told him gently, causing Klaus' eyes to widen as he sat up in shock, not understanding what the hell the brunette was talking about.
"What – how?" Klaus questioned, completely bewildered, and confused as he sat up straighter, looking at his wife for answers. He could distinctly remember Elijah stabbing him with the white oak stake; remember the excruciating pain he felt as his body began to desiccate. How was it possible for him to be alive?
"Well, that's a long story," Thea sighed lifting her legs up onto the bed as Klaus stared at her expectantly, clearly waiting for her to explain. "Within all the madness of yesterday, Kaiden made a call to Bonnie asking for her help," the brunette began to explain, recalling what the twins had told her earlier when she woke up.
