"I didn't even know you were in town," Matt began as he sat opposite Alaric in the Armory, Thea and Tyler sat on the table beside them as the twins played in a room upstairs with Josie and Lizzie. Alaric sighed in response, "yeah, well, Dorian needed my help with something. Looks like he wasn't the only one. So what the hell happened?" the man asked Matt.

This morning, Thea and Tyler we're on their way to meet Matt as the man had claimed he hadn't seen Hope and Kaiden in a while, when they found him cowering in the living room of his house, completely shaken up. After snapping him out of whatever state he was in, Tyler insisted the group paid a visit to Dorian to figure out what was going on - which is why they were all currently at the Armory speaking to Alaric.

"I don't know, but I'm telling you, I could feel the heat from the flames...hear the screams of all those people burning," Matt told the man with a pained expression as he relived whatever he'd seen this morning. Alaric frowned, his brows furrowed, "are you sure it wasn't just a nightmare?" the man offered.

"You know, your mind trying to work out that you almost rang the bell and burned down Mystic Falls?" Alaric continued causing Matt to shake his head, a fearful look on his face. "No, Ric, this was different. It was like I was actually there," the human revealed, slightly scared and worried as he didn't understand how any of this linked to him and his family.

Just then, Dorian walked down the stairs holding a journal and a talisman. "Maybe you were," the historian stated causing everyone's attention to turn towards him. "And I don't think this is just colonial bling," Dorian admitted as he held the talisman up for them all to see, "based on the time period and the local coven activity, I think this could be a witch talisman that's somehow tied to the Maxwell bloodline."

"Maybe those weren't nightmares. Maybe they were memories," Dorian revealed causing the group to frown in confusion. "How is that even possible?" Tyler asked the man, staring between Alaric and Dorian for an explanation out of worry for his best friend. Alaric sighed as he thought about it, "well, I've heard of Latvian witches using something like that to contact the dead," the ex-vampire hunter began as he recalled whatever information he had.

"You know, a way to create a psychic link between the living and their ancestors," Alaric further explained as he caught the blank look Matt, Tyler and Thea were giving him. "Yeah, and that might explain how you slept-walked your way into those tunnels," Dorian added causing Matt to frown deeply, his brows furrowed as he considered what they were saying.
