Mystic Falls, VA.

Kaiden was asleep in his dorm room back at the Salvatore Boarding School, tossing and turning uncomfortably as the events that happened a few days prior replayed in his mind. The boy frowned, plagued by the memory of his mom's burnt body and his father's agonising screams. "Mom?" Kaiden called out desperately as he gasped awake, praying that his dream was simply a terrible nightmare.

"Kaiden," Freya called out softly, capturing the boy's attention as he turned to see both his aunt and sister sat in the corner of his bedroom with crestfallen expressions. "What happened?" Kaiden asked as he climbed out of his bed, "where's mom?" the boy asked desperately, not wanting to believe his dream really was a memory. Freya's expression fell once again, a sorrowful look in her eyes as Hope's eyes began to glisten.

"Kaid-" the blonde witch began softly before Kaiden cut her off. "Where is she?" the youngest twin demanded, his anger and sorrow causing the lights in the room to flicker before they shattered completely. "She's gone," Hope whispered from the corner of the room, her head hung low as a tear fell from her eye, her heart completely shattered at the reality.

Kaiden stilled at her words, "what?" the boy whispered back, his tone broken as he swallowed thickly. Hope sighed sadly as she lifted her head, allowing her brother to see the tears glistening her eyes and her heartbroken expression, "she's gone," the older twin repeated sadly as more tears fell from her eyes. Kaiden shook his head frantically, looking from his sisters tear stained face to where his aunt had also begun to cry.

"No, no," the younger tribrid retorted, not wanting to believe for a single second that what Hope had said was a reality. "We just got her back..." Kaiden stated brokenly as tears began to fall freely from his eyes, "no, no, you're- she can't be gone," the tribrid cried as he fell back on to his bed, placing his head in his hands as he cried in anguish, his heart shattering completely.

Hope instantly stood from her seat, moving to wrap her arms around her brother in an attempt to comfort him as tears ran down her own face. Freya moved closer towards them, sitting on the other side of Kaiden as she placed her arms around the twins, the three Mikaelson's mourning the loss they each felt so terribly deeply.

After Kaiden had pretty much cried himself back to sleep, Hope re-entered her own dorm room. The tribrid felt like a zombie. She was exhausted having not slept as a result of the nightmares that plagued her dreams. During the last few days she'd felt so much pain that she'd began to just feel numb. As if she could bear to feel a single thing because it just hurt, so much.
