New Orleans, LA.

"How is my little ne-er do well?" Kol's voice asked through Hope's phone screen. The two were on face time as Hope walked through the long exterior balconies of the Mikaelson Compound, having wanted someone else to vent about her issues with that wasn't her twin brother. Thea had left early that morning, not speaking a word to either of them before she went to fix the mess Hope had caused with Hayley - leaving the twins on their own.

"I've been better," the tribrid sighed as she held her phone up towards her face before smiling at her uncle, "how's Davina?" Hope inquired, smiling as a large smile broke out on Kol's face. "My darling wife is gorging on papaya right now," the original answered with a look of complete adoration for his wife, "you know, Belize is beautiful this time of year. You should visit," Kol told her causing Hope to scoff.

"I'd love to," the witch answered with a bitter smile, "but I'm grounded," Hope concluded causing Kol to frown. "Grounded?" the original repeated in disbelief as if he couldn't fathom the fact that his sister in law had actually disciplined his darling niece. "Yup," Hope confirmed, rolling her eyes as she was still annoyed with her mom, "Kaiden's also grounded - it's a whole family affair."

Kol scoffed, frowning at his niece through the phone screen with furrowed brows, "you can't ground a witch, let alone my favourite niece and nephew," the original retorted causing Hope to smirk slightly as she chuckled. "That's what I said! Mom didn't think it was funny," Hope stated as she neared her brother's room, earning a chuckle from Kol through the receiver.

"I remember when your mom actually had a sense of humor," Kol reminisced with a small smile just as Hope threw Kaiden's door open, waltzing in as if she owned the place causing the younger twin to roll his eyes. "I'm sure this will all blow over by Mardi Gras," Kol assured his niece after a few moments causing Hope to sigh, a sad look of guilt washing over her features. Kaiden moved his gaze away from the book in his hands over to his older sister as he heard his uncle's voice, shifting so that Hope could sit on the bed next to him.

"I- I didn't think it was such a big deal at the time, but now that it's stirred up so much trouble. Mom's so mad at me and I-I kind of feel bad," Hope disclosed to her uncle as she took a seat next to Kaiden on the bed. The younger twin rolled his eyes at his sisters 'goody two-shoes' nature before snatching her phone out of her hands and smiling at his uncle.

"Uncle Kol, hey," the younger twin smiled as Kol smiled back at him. Since being a child, Kaiden had always favored Kol over the rest of his aunts and uncles (not that he'd ever admit it to them in fear that he'd upset them). It wasn't that he necessarily loved him more, it was just that Kol seemed to understand the troublesome and rebellious nature that Kaiden exhumed. After all, that had been Kol once.
