"Now, you can't call yourselves a connoisseur if you have not sampled each and everyone of these. Hmm?" Klaus stated as he sat at the large table in the dining room opposite both his children. "Here," the original offered as he held a basket full of beignets to Hope and Kaiden with a smile.

The twins both took one eagerly, Kaiden immediately stuffing the pastry in his mouth as Hope took gentler bites. "Mmm, it's so good!" the younger twin spoke with delight through a full mouth, sugar covering his lips and chin. Klaus chuckled at the sight, placing the basket down on the table as Kaiden immediately reached for another one.

"Did I ever tell you the story of my first beignet?" Klaus asked as he looked between the twins causing them both to shake their heads in response as they continued to dine on the array of pastries Klaus had ordered to be laid out for breakfast. "No? You are in for a treat," the original told them both a smile.

"Long ago, three French nuns came to New Orleans looking for a fresh start, and they came here," Klaus begun as Hope and Kaiden both listened intently to his words. "They marched right into our courtyard, and they presented your Uncle Elijah and me with these rather lumpy-looking, sugar coated pastries," the original revealed as he held up a beignet in his hand.

"Well, needless to say, we were entranced. We set them up quite well," Klaus chuckled as he recalled the memory. "Why did they come to you?" Hope asked her father curiously, her brows furrowed slightly as she placed her pastry back down on her plate. Klaus smiled as he sat forward on his chair, leaning his elbows on the table as he addressed both twins.

"Because there was a time when we were regarded as royalty. You might even go as far as to say I was a king," the hybrid spoke whimsically, "which would make you both a princess and prince," Klaus told them, causing the twins to grin ecstatically. "And mom would be a queen?" Hope asked with a happy grin.

Klaus chuckled softly at her words, a beaming smile on his lips, "oh, sweetheart, your mother has always been a queen." Just as his words were spoken, Thea appeared from the doorway behind them, finding her husband and children with powdered sugar around their mouths as they sat at the large table that was currently decorated with various desserts and breakfast pastries.

"Good morning," the brunette greeted, raising an eyebrow as she spotted the two twins munching on sugary pastries, "I guess apple turnover is fruit," Thea sighed as she stood by the table. Klaus smirked as he turned from the twins towards his wife, "well, I saw no harm in indulging our children's sweet tooth," the original shrugged.
