After stopping for some dinner, Klaus, Hope and Kaiden walked through the town square where the Solstice dance was currently taking place. A band was playing gentle music as the town's people danced and chatted happily with one another. "Look, I know it's not an ideal evening, but the timing is right," Klaus told the twins as they walked through the square.

"Once you're mid-transformation, the Saltzman girls will be able to siphon the magic out of you," the hybrid explained to both his children, causing them both to frown worriedly as they looked at him. "Are you sure about this?" Hope asked, raising an eyebrow at her dad to make sure everything was going to work out the way they wanted them to.

"Yeah," Klaus answered with a guilty smile, having not told either of his children of the actual plan, "I'll dispose of the magic later. Tonight is about the two of you," the hybrid stated with a smile, nodding towards the crowd of people dancing. Hope smiled, looking out at all the people dancing when she suddenly caught sight of Elijah, sitting alone on a park bench.

"I'll be right back," Hope smiled at both her father and brother before making her way over to her uncle. Hope smiled as she sat down next to Elijah on the park bench, offering him her dessert, "you looked kinda lonely," the eldest Mikaelson twin spoke gently, earning a smile from the original in response.

"You know something?" Elijah suddenly asked as he took the desert from her outstretched hand gratefully, "when you were born, I declared that you and your brother would be the saviour of this family," the original stated as he looked down at her. "That wasn't fair," Elijah admitted with a tone of guilt, "we should never have been your burden to bear," the original stated with a heavy sigh.

"How old were you when you promised to always protect my father?" Hope questioned curiously as she looked up at her uncle, "much older than me?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. Elijah thought for a minute before shaking his head, "no," the original admitted causing Hope to smile softly, nodding her head. "I think that we were both born with responsibilities that we didn't deserve, Uncle Elijah," Hope remarked with a smile, nudging her uncle's shoulder softly.

Elijah smiled down at her, happy that she seemed to have forgiven him and was back to referring to him as family. The original looked down towards his desert, using the plastic knife to cut into the banana as he smiled softly to himself. "What?" Hope asked with a laugh as she noticed the goofy smile on his lips.

Elijah shook his head gently, "it's nothing, I just, I see so much of your mother in you," the original complimented with a smile causing Hope to grin back at him. "I saw her, you know - when I fainted," Hope told him causing Elijah to furrow his brows in confusion. "It was probably just some white-light hallucination, but...she told me to tell you that she hasn't forgotten about that drink that she owes you?" Hope stated, her tone laced with confusion.
