The sound of footsteps and people whispering cause me to slowly wake up. All the noises stop when I adjust the cozy blanket onto my shoulders and I take in the warmth happily. I know I should be a little worried that there's people in my room but I'm too tired to care at the moment. Besides, it's probably Jesse and one of the boys checking on me since they slept downstairs last night after we spent the whole day together.

Just as I'm about to drift off to sleep, I feel the bed dip beside me and a hand gently brush loose strands of hair behind my ear. A light kiss is placed on my temple and I hear my brother call my name.

"Sophie" I hum in response and scoot closer to him with my eyes still closed. His hand cups my cheek and his thumb rubs my cold skin. "Wake up sweetheart, we've got something to tell you" he coaxes me.

"What?" I mumble groggily but refuse to open my eyes and get out of bed. He chuckles and pokes my nose so I try and shoo him away but to no prevail. "Jay jay stop" I beg him and attempt to pull the blanket over my head to cover myself. His next words make me freeze and finally open my eyes with confusion written all over them.

"C'mon birthday girl, don't be such a lazy bum. Everyone's waiting for you"

I give him a 'what the cheese balls are you talking about?' look and he only answers with a laugh. Pulling the blanket off me a bit, I sit up and ask, "what's going o-?"

I'm cut off my multiple voices shouting, "happy birthday!"

A small shriek escapes me and I look around my room at all the smiling faces staring back at me. Nate is wearing one of those cheap paper birthday hats and is holding a small cylinder shaped pink cake with a single candle on top. Oliver holding onto a bunch of pink balloons in both hands, all with different sayings and pictures on them. Lastly, Donovan has his hands full with an assortment of bright colored presents. All four of them, including my brother, are still in their pajamas and sporting wild bedhead hair.

"Wha-?"

"Do you like your room Sophie?" Nathan asks and I warily glance around to see what he means. Shocked, I have to rub my eyes a couple times to realize what they've done while I was asleep.

Balloons scatter various spots all over my room and a few streamers are hung along the ceiling. I can tell they're waiting for my reaction so I decide to give them what they want. "It's pretty, thank you for doing th-this but are you sure it's my birthday?" I'm making sure this isn't a dream.

"Of course it is" Jesse chimes in. "December 10th is today, did you really forget?" I immediately nod my head at his question to play along.

"Well, I can't say I blame you. There's been a lot going on around here so it's easy to slip your mind when there's so much to think about."

"Yeah.." I mumble. The day of my birth is the last thing on my list of priorities. I'd be completely fine if we treated it as like any other normal day. But by the looks of it, they've chosen to surprise me with this morning wake up call.

"Now that it's been established, meet us downstairs for your special breakfast. We've got some things planned for today that I know you'll love" my brother kisses my cheek and stands up to leave.

My door closes shut after they all walk out and I'm left sitting there full on confused and shocked. Glancing at the decorations around me, I appreciate the effort they put into it and make a mental note to bake them some treats tomorrow as a thank you.
