Chapter 15
(Akira’s POV)
I sat on the floor for a few minutes before the silence was broken by Honey’s heels clicking on the tile and the squeaking of Gogo’s boots. I glanced up and waved.
“Hey, girl,” Honey greeted and I heard two people sitting down next to me on the floor.
“Thank you both for keeping me company. Wasabi and Fred burst in here and made Hiro and Baymax go outside with them,” I explained.
“You’re welcome. Yeah, we saw ‘em outside,” Gogo pointed out before popping her gum.
“So! Let’s have a little girly talk while it’s just us in here!” Honey bubbled. I shrugged.
“I’d rather talk about bots and such, but sure,” I agreed.
“Have you ever even had a close talk with girls before?” Gogo asked.
“Ah, no. Not really. I tend to stay by myself. I haven’t had many friends since elementary school,” I explained.
“Eep! So this is your first time! Okay, okay. I can roll with this. Let’s talk about boys then!” Honey giggled excitedly. I nodded cautiously, not really sure what this ‘girl-talk’ would lead to. “Alright, how many boyfriends have you had, Gogo and Akira? I’ve had 5, if you… include Tadashi…” She trailed off. “Sorry. Hehe. Seriously though, girls.”
“Uh, 20 or so I think. I lost count,” Gogo boldly stated. My jaw dropped, and by the silence in the room, I assumed Honey’s did too. “What?” Gogo popped her gum.
“Never mind,” Honey laughed. “What about you, Akira?” I looked down shyly.
“Um… None,” I confessed. “As stated before, not many friends before now.”
“So then is Hiro your first crush?” Gogo nonchalantly asked. I could feel my cheeks burn.
“W-what? He’s- I don’t like Hiro in that way,” I stammered.
“Oooooh, you’re so nervous you’ve started stuttering! How cute!” Honey teased.
“Dude, if you like him, tell him,” Gogo added. I covered my red face with my hands, which at this point were sweaty.
“Aww,” Honey sang. “Sweetie, you can tell us, we won’t tell him.”
“Y-yeah, I have a major crush on him,” I mumbled while my hands remained over my face. “Just please don’t say anything to him.” I pleaded. Honey placed her hand on my shoulder.
“Of course not, but now you have two friends you can talk to if you need help with anything. Both of us have experience,” Honey pointed out. I nodded and heard Gogo stand up and walk a few steps. I heard the window blinds rustling.
“Heads up, incoming,” Gogo called out and then sat back down with us.
“Maybe the three of us can continue with this later, but for now,” Honey talked softly. I heard footsteps walking down the hall and into the room and glanced up to acknowledge them.
“Just do your best to calm down for now,” Gogo whispered.
“Oh, and Akira, I ship you and Hiro. I call it Akiro.” Honey whispered. We all stood up and I stuck my tongue out at Honey for her comment. I heard Hiro’s muffled laughter.
“What?” I asked.
“If you were implying that towards Honey, she didn’t see it and is over here now,” Hiro answered with a hint of laughter in his voice.
“Implying what?” Honey chimed. I stuck my tongue out at her again and we both giggled. I walked towards Hiro and greeted him with a smile. I overheard Honey whisper something and Wasabi answer back in a whisper.
“Sorry I took so long, your suit should be done now if you’d like to try it on,” Hiro apologized. I grinned and nodded.
“Hell yes!” I squealed.
“This is gonna be awesome!” Fred shouted. I placed a hand on Hiro’s shoulder and he led me to my suit.
“I have your helmet, it’s technically not complete quite yet, but you can try it on at least. Tonight, you can test out the entire suit once I give you the surprise,” He explained. He handed me a shirt and pants. I pulled my sweater off over my head, revealing my black tank top. And put the shirt on, then followed with the pants over my shorts. Hiro helped me adjust the armor and helmet. “So? How does it feel?”
“Wow, it… It fits perfectly,” I stammered, amazed by its perfection. I stretched to make sure it fit, and it moved with my body comfortably. I walked forwards and gave Hiro a big hug. “Thank you.” I pulled away from him and smiled again.
“Of course it fits perfectly. I’m the one who made it after all,” He bragged. “But I’m glad you like it.”
“Dude, you look so epic!” Fred cheered. I heard a few resounding ‘mmhm’s from the rest of the group. I nodded happily and began removing it to save for tonight.
“I vote we head over to the café and grab some lunch from Hiro’s aunt,” Gogo recommended. Hiro took my suit from my hands and I heard the unzipping and re-zipping of his backpack. I picked up my sweater and was about to pull it over my head when Honey interrupted me.
“Akira, leave your sweater off for a little bit. You look cute in your tank top,” Honey called. “Don’t you agree, Hiro?”
“Uh, y-yeah. You do, Akira,” He stammered. I blushed slightly and smiled. We began our walk to the Lucky Cat Café from SFIT’s nerd lab.
