Chapter 32
(Honey’s POV)
Akira and Hiro, or as I liked to called them, Akiro, were snuggled on the couch playing Arcane late at night. They were so involved with the game that they didn’t notice me shifting. I had been pretending to be asleep for the past half hour. I pulled my phone out from the sleeping bag, and turned the video camera on using its night-vision setting. I chuckled quietly to myself and hit record as I angled it to face Akiro. I curled back up in my sleeping bag and went to sleep.
(Hiro’s POV)
I was awoken to the very loud squealing of a female voice. My eyes shot open and I saw Akira snuggled against me. I had forgotten that I had fallen asleep next to her. She was still asleep. I turned my head to see Honey clutching her phone and squealing with a huge grin on her face. Akira made a small, sleepy noise and hugged me closer to her.
“Honey! You’re going to wake Akira up!” I shouted in a whisper. She turned to me.
“Sorry, Akiro! I mean Hiro!,” she corrected in a whisper. I glanced around the room, still holding onto Akira, and saw that everyone else was already up and dressed.
“I know you want her to get sleep, but it’s almost 11 and it’s your fault for staying up so long. You should probably wake her up,” Gogo suggested. I sighed.
“Alright,” I answered. I turned back to face Akira. I placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. “Akira, you need to wake up,” I cooed softly into her ear.
“I’ve awake since you woke up a minute ago,” she mumbled and kept her eyes shut. I smiled and chuckled. I gave her a big hug before sitting up and yanking the blanket off of us and putting it back on the couch. “Noooo, don’t do that. Give that back,” she mumbled. “It’s too cold.” I leaned down to her ear and breathed warm air into her ear, causing her to shiver and blush. She jumped up and stuck her tongue out at me disapprovingly and I copied her. She rolled her eyes. “Can I at least have my glasses so I’m not completely blind?” I picked up her glasses from the floor and slipped them onto her face. She jumped up off the couch and immediately ran to get her clothes from her backpack. I watched as she dashed off out of the room. I got up from my spot on the couch and pulled my own clothes out of my bag.
“So how was your first kiss last night, Hiro?” Honey called. I blushed and spun around on my heels.
“W-what?! How do you know about that?!” I exclaimed. Everyone laughed.
“I have my ways,” Honey replied innocently. I glared at her and walked to the door of the room and opened it. Akira was done changing in the bathroom and was walking down the hall in a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. I smiled sweetly and held the door open for her. She acknowledged my holding of the door with a smile of her own. I left the room, changed in the bathroom, and then came back in to see everyone sitting on the couch with presents.
“Get your 15-year-old ass over here!” Fred shouted. I smiled and rolled my eyes. I ran over and jumped onto the couch next to Akira. “ME FIRST!” Fred tossed me a small envelope. I opened it to reveal a $1,000 gift card to Corebank’s website. “I decided the best gift for somebody obsessed with robotics was a gift card to a place that sells robot parts,” Fred explained. I nodded and thanked him. Next, Honey handed me her present, a picture frame that when turned on displays pictures. She already had multiple group, individual, and pair pictures installed on the frame. Wasabi gave me a huge box of computer wipes and unscented hand sanitizer – of course. Gogo tossed me a t-shirt with C-3PO and R2-D2 on it.
I looked to Akira, who nervously held onto her present. She handed the tiny box to me. I opened it to reveal a wrist band with a computer screen.
“It’s a watch, a calculator, a camera, a voice recorder, a GPS, and it connects to your phone to be able to call or text people,” she explained. There were a hand-written set of instruction for it in the box. On the underside of the watch were laser-etched the words ‘for my perfect genius – love, Akira.’ I smiled and hugged her tightly. “I made it myself,” she nervously whispered.
“Thank you. I’ll wear it every day,” I answered. I put it on and it fit comfortably.
“Happy birthday!” the team all cheered. I laughed and Honey pulled us in for a group hug and a picture.
“Now what?” Gogo asked.
“Karaoke!” Fred and Honey shouted together – I had forgotten until they both shouted ‘karaoke’ that they had planned the weekend together.
