Chapter 25
(Hiro's POV)
"Is everyone okay?" Honey called out once the smoke had vanished. All of us nodded.
"What the hell happened here?" Gogo asked as we began walking back to the café. Akira and I recalled the events as best as we could as we worked our way down the streets.
"Everybody be on the lookout. I get the strong feeling that this is just the beginning of a series of attacks soon to follow," I ordered. We nodded in agreement and began removing our suits now that we were back in the garage. "And Akira, excellent laser work. I calibrated both gloves to react when your hands are positioned like a gun," I turned towards her and smiled.
"Thank you."
"It's been a long day; I'm going to go head home. I'll see you all in school tomorrow," Wasabi said. He waved and walked out.
"I've gotta go too," Fred agreed and high-fived all of us. Gogo nodded and left with him. Honey gave us both a quick hug.
"Stay safe and sweet dreams, you two!" She called as she left. I picked up Akira's backpack and handed it to her.
"I guess you should head out too. We can talk between our windows if you want," I suggested. She nodded.
"I'd love to. Just give me a few minutes to cross the alley back to my place, tell Lyn about the glasses, and then get upstairs," she commented. I wrapped my arms around her lovingly.
"I'll be waiting, beautiful," I whispered and then placed a kiss on her cheek. I pulled away from the hug slowly to see her blushing and smiling.
"Thank you, Hiro. I'll see you soon, handsome," she cooed back. I watched as Akira walked out of the garage and disappeared around the corner, and then sighed contently.
"Your dopamine levels are increased. This is likely due to your romantic interest in Akira," Baymax diagnosed. I grinned and laughed while the two of us started walking back up to my room.
"I think that's the third or fourth time you've tried to say that. Are you happy that you finally got to say it without interruption?" I teased.
"I am a robot; I cannot be happy. However, yes, I am pleased that I was able to state the diagnosis." I rolled my eyes and laughed. Baymax sat in his charger.
"I'll activate you tomorrow after class, buddy. Thanks for your help today."
"It is my duty to help people. You are my patient."
"See you tomorrow. I'm satisfied with my care," I replied. He deactivated into his travel case and I pulled my chair up to the window and sat down. I could see her dark room across the alley. She was going to be only a few yards away.
(Akira's POV)
It didn't take long to explain the video glasses to Lyn. She wasn't technologically savvy, but she understood the basic idea. The sweet old woman was so happy for me that she began crying and hugging me and talking about how sweet Hiro was and how happy she was for me that I could see and that I had such a sweet boyfriend.
Now, I was practically running up the stairs to see Hiro. I tripped numerous times before finally making it to my room and closing the door shut behind me. I flipped the lights on and flung myself onto the couch by the window. When Hiro and I had been in my room earlier today, he had opened the curtains for me, so now I saw him sitting on the other side with his window already opened. He gave me a toothy grin and waved. I yanked my window open and he immediately shouted to me.
"Akira! Can you hear me?" He shouted. I nodded. He jumped and turned around as if a noise had startled him. He looked back at me and face palmed. I watched as he picked his cell phone up. My phone beeped signaling I had received a text. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and read the text.
Hiro: Cass said I'm too loud. And you can't hear me unless I shout.
Me: Aw. : ( Maybe we can try using signals or something???
Hiro: www. signlanguage.com/auto_translate_app
(A/N: Not a real thing guys. I'm sure there's something like that online, but not with that specific link. Lol.)
Hiro: Download the app, and then use it. You can translate from spoken language to sign language, and vice versa.
I obeyed his suggestion and downloaded the app.
Me: Done. :D We can talk for a few minutes before we sleep now.
I glanced up and looked to Hiro.
"Can you understand this?" He signed.
"Yes. This was a great idea." I signed back.
"Awesome!" His hands formed. "I'll pick you up at your place in the morning at 7."
"I can't wait, my perfect genius."
"I'm your perfect genius?"
"Of course you are!" We were now getting the hand of it and picking up sign language speed. I held my hands up to him in a heart shape and he copied it from his window.
"Are you ready for bed?" He asked in sign. I nodded. "Alright. Goodnight. Sleep well. Stay safe."
"Goodnight. See you tomorrow, Hiro."
"I love you, Akira," he lovingly signed. I blushed and smiled to him.
"I love you too, Hiro," I signed back, just as sweetly. He waved and shut his window and curtains. I slowly did the same. "I love you too, Hiro," I said again aloud to myself.
