Chapter 28

(Hiro’s POV)

We all stood up from lunch and went our separate ways. Akira and I walked together to robotics and began working on our security bot project. I pulled out the blueprints, and Akira, now that she could see, commented about the pros and cons of the design and we worked together to get it exactly how we wanted it. Class finished, we went our separate ways to Physics and Computer Programming. My professor usually let us out a few minutes before the Physics teacher released Akira’s class. Once class was over, I made my way across campus to meet my girlfriend by the door to her class. When I rounded the corner, I saw her sitting on the ground waiting for me, but she was sitting with somebody else – another guy. They were engaged in deep conversation and he was making her smile and laugh. I clenched my fists due to feeling threatened by him. I walked to them.

“Not as funny as this one time I-,” she stopped in the middle of her sentence and jumped up from the floor so she was standing. “This is Hiro Hamada,” she cheered. The guy stood up so I could see him more clearly. He stood about 6 feet tall, had dyed-blonde (I could see the brown roots and his brown eyebrows) hair styled in a quiff, was slightly more muscular than me, he had a five o’clock shadow, and had icy blue eyes. He grinned and reached his hand out. “Hiro, this is Henry Langston.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve heard much about you from the professors and students. I’m thrilled to meet such a young genius,” Henry complimented. He spoke with a British accent and smiled. I shook his hand and didn’t return the smile. “I’m a transfer student from New London City.” (A/N: New London is a combination of New York City and London.)

“Yeah, nice to meet you too, Henry,” I mumbled and then grabbed Akira’s hand. “We have to go study now, so if you don’t mind,” I lied.

“Oh, Hiro! We can spare a few minutes. Besides, you and Henry would get along very well,” Akira argued.

“That’s alright, Akira. I’ll be in the same class tomorrow at the same time, so the three of us can chat tomorrow. Thank you for the lovely conversation. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow,” Henry called in what I thought to be an extremely irritating charming voice. He waved and walked off down the hall. Akira smiled and turned on her heels to me. I gripped her hand tightly and walked swiftly and angrily, almost pulling her down the hall. She tried to keep up and tripped. I spun and caught her.

“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to trip you!” I apologized and quickly changed my attitude. I helped her up and she looked me in the eyes, her red staring into my brown.

“Hiro, what’s wrong? You’re upset.” She whispered and pulled me into a comforting hug. I sighed.

“I’m sorry. I just got… I was threatened by him and felt jealous,” I admitted. She kissed my cheek and released me from the hug slowly.

“Oh, Hiro. You have nothing to worry about. I’m your girlfriend and I love you. I barely know Henry and he’s just a friend. Besides, I don’t see why you’re threatened by him. He’s not as handsome to me as you are, he’s not as smart, he’s not as funny, etcetera.” She assured. I nodded and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, causing her to blush.

“Thank you,” I breathed in relief. I wrapped my arm around her waist and we walked out of the building and down to the front where the others were waiting.

“Hey! Cat Café?” Fred called as we made our way to them. I held my arm up with a thumbs-up and they began walking as the two of us followed.

Once we made it to the café, Cass immediately rushed over to us with bean-paste pastries.

“Akira! Oh, you look so cute in your new glasses! I’m so glad you can see!” She handed Honey the plate of pastries. “Gotta get back to work!” She rushed over to the counter and continued taking orders. The six of us went upstairs and sat on the couch in the living room.

(A/N: Every one of you is going to hate Henry in a few chapters. Okay? Alright. Lol. Thanks for the support everyone!)
