(A/N: Back from vacation everyone! I typed quite a bit while I was away! I’ll update with a few chapters today, but keep some held back. I may not be able to write since 2nd semester is starting tomorrow, so I’m holding a few chapters back to post one daily after today just in case I can’t write. I hope everyone enjoys! Also, I logged into Wattpad today to see that in the 7 days I was gone, I went from 992 views to 1.3K! Thank you guys so much! I hope you enjoy the chapters I’ve prepared for you!)
Chapter 41
(Hiro’s POV)
(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙) TIME SKIP: Two weeks – January 8th (∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)
Akira and I sat atop Baymax’s back in our suits, attempting to conduct another search for the men. So far, we hadn’t had any luck, and it had been weeks since we last had any signs of them and the only crimes in San Fransokyo had been minor and easily handled. It bothered me greatly that they had been attacking us periodically and then simply vanishing with no traces. Baymax continued to scan the city as we flew overhead.
“Anything, Baymax?” Akira asked hopefully.
“Scan complete. I have found matches for two out of four men,” Baymax replied. Akira and I both sat up.
“Where?” I hurriedly said.
“They are located right outside the Lucky Cat Café,” Baymax answered. Akira and I glanced to each other, knowing exactly what the other was worried about – the two men were likely threatening Cass and the other civilians at the Café. We flew straight to the café to see – surprisingly – nothing unusual. We rushed into the café to be met with confused stares from Cass’ customers. We slunk back outside the café and I turned to Baymax.
“Where are they?” I asked.
“Scan complete. I have lost trace of them again,” Baymax answered. I sighed angrily and facepalmed.
“They were here though?” Akira questioned.
“Yes,” Baymax monotonously said.
“Which of the men were here?” She continued interrogating to narrow down answers.
“Evan and Roderick,” he answered.
“Conduct a scan for bombs or anything else they may have left that usually isn’t here.” I listened nervously as she worked through the possibilities.
“Scan complete. There are no bombs or other explosives, however, there is a new item,” Baymax explained. He began waddling off around the corner of the building and we followed. He faced to a wall and pointed. Taped to the wall was an envelope with my name scrawled in beautiful cursive on the front. I took it off the wall and opened it cautiously. Inside was a letter with a handwritten note on it in calligraphy. I read it aloud to Akira and Baymax.
“Big Hero 7, I have the honor of inviting you to a private event sponsored by our host, Yokai AKA Robert Callaghan. The event will be held in front of 422 Ieyasu Street by the harbor this evening at 9 PM. The recommended attire will be your suits. If you do not arrive, Yokai will provide us with your addresses to hunt you down. We look forward to receiving you, sincerely, Mr. Roderick Jones.”
“The fact that he was so formal with it is scary in and of itself,” Akira voiced. I nodded. “And isn’t Roderick that guy who blew up Corebank’s building a while back? The guy I shot it the arm with my laser?” I nodded again.
“We need to meet with the group immediately and figure out how to handle this. It’s a little after 1, so we have less than 8 hours to figure this out.”
“I’ll shoot out a text to them now,” Akira acknowledged. She pulled out her cell phone and typed a few words before turning back to me. “I told them we’d meet ASAP in the lab.”
(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙) TIME SKIP: 30 minutes : walking to SFIT, waiting for everyone, and explaining the letter (∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)(∙-∙)
“So how are we going to handle this?” I directed my question to the team.
“I vote we go,” Akira spoke. She was beginning to become less and less shy as she realized the danger that we could all be in if we went against them. A chorus of agreements followed her suggestion.
“And how do you suppose we fight? They’ve obviously set a trap,” Wasabi urged an answer from Akira and me. I looked to Akira, who appeared to be analyzing the situation we were in further.
“Based on the little bit I’ve seen, I’d say it looks to be more of a show of power than a show of traps,” Akira answered. I nodded in agreement.
“I think we can assume safety on the way to wherever we’re meeting them, but it won’t be easy once we’re in. Callaghan’s been staying mostly out of the way for weeks. I have a feeling what we’ll be up against will be a robot or robots of some sort.”
“Microbots,” Fred burst in.
“Why would he use those again? He was defeated with them last time,” Gogo added as she rolled her eyes at him. He grinned.
“How did we defeat him last time?” Fred asked.
“With the portal, which-,” Honey began.
“Was destroyed and doesn’t work anymore,” I finished.
“So then if he is using microbots, how do we defeat him this time?” Akira asked.
“We don’t,” Wasabi concluded.
“They are very difficult to destroy and he’s had enough time to create multi-billions of them,” I explained. They all nodded. “We can’t just stay here and wait though; otherwise they’ll destroy us at our homes. The best we can do is meet them there.”
